16v Vitara water leak?

Hi,

My 16v 1.6l efi Vitara seems to be leaking a small amount of radiator fluid.

It appears on the bottom of the transmission pan and around the bottom of the bell housing. It only needs the occasional top up but still the green fluid appears there.

There is a hot radiator fluid smell to the car when it is warm and there is a slight puff of blue/white smoke on startup. When running with the radiator cap off there is no bubbles in the fluid and there is no sign of oil in the water. The bottom of the oil filler cap is clean. The dipstick has a few tiny drops of clear (not green) fluid with the oil. The engine seems to have plenty of power and climbs hills OK.

The radiator cap was leaking until recently but I have put a new one on.

Any thoughts?

excluding the obvious hoses, check your welch plugs, also check for cracks in the block, I had one that went from one welch plug to another.

There has been some problems with leaking welsh plugs in particular one by the starter motor, maybe have a look there.

It sounds like it could be a welsh plug(spelling may be wrong) seeping, if theres one on the rear of the block check that one. Get a makeup mirror behind there and have a gander.

i've had a pinhole leak in one of the heater hoses that runs behind the back of the head of the motor, between it and the firewall. just something else to check

Found it. Welch plug under the exhaust manifold. Fixed it!

problem one day, found and fixed the next, who is this guy? it normaly takes weeks to get around to doing a job like that :D
