4Y engine upgrade

Post by ditch »

had this in the general 4x4 tech section for a bit, thought id get more love here:

Hey guys, I've got a dual cab 85 lux running a 4Y petrol engine.

I'm thinking of doing an engine upgrade, probably to a diesel engine.

Which engine would be the easiest to convert, and preferably the cheapest?

I've done a few searches and apparently the 2.8lt diesel is an option, because it uses the same mounts, gearbox and all that jazz? I'm not really much in the know for this sorta stuff, but yea any info would be great. Like how much I'd be looking at for a swap over, and what needs swapping etc.

Thanks.

you will need to do a hell of a lot of work to convert to diesel including bell housing, go for the 2.7 pety still alot of work but cheaper in the long run for spares ect.
