Toyota Landcrusier or Nissan Patrol Ute's

Post by xplot »

I Like both utes only i cant make up my mind, now i want it for abit of extreme 4x4 and Touring.

I would like to know what each of them ride like with a 3 inch lift and if anyone knows what it is like i would be grateful to tell me. I think a 3 inch on Landcrusier would be rough ride because of the leaf springs, the patrol would ride very nice i reckon. If i am wrong please tell me.

Thank you all

I'd vote the patrol because its cheaper to lift compared to leaf springs, a more comfortable ride and the cab has more room. I have driven both and have to say I'd head towards the patrol. Plus the fact it doesnt have the toyo badge on it :finger: . Having said that Im not biased, just my opinion because I was looking at the utes not so long ago and the nissan was IMO the better of the two

A mate of a mate owns both a turbo diesel GU ute and a standard 79 series non turbo diesel cruiser. They both get used in bananas and the cruiser walks all over the patrol.

id try and get some stats on which vehicle peforms better in comps. i know that there highly modified and wont be the same as a standard truck but, if i was going to build a comp rig, id want to be able to rely on it and also save money on the modifications. on a personal note, i have a GU, and compared to a mates 75, its a more roomy cabin, however i have been told that the 79 is a bit bigger than the 75.

Good luck

I actually think the cruiser has a roomier cab than the patrol, mainly cos the patrol has a lower roofline and less cab length. Turbo diesel 79.......hmmmmm

the transmision tunnel in a cruiser is much more narrow than the patrol too, but i still think the patrol will be a better vehicle....... :D

I might be a little one eye'd when it comes to Toyota v Nissan. But. If you take a look around at the number of cruiser's v patrols that tradesmen, police, rangers, farmers, and everyone else west of toowoomba and north of noosa drive. (assuming youre from Bris) Everyone drives a cruiser! They cost more to buy, look like they're from the 70's, have leaf springs, did I mention they were more expensive? But people all over the place still buy cruisers. I work for a certain gov agency and we only use cruisers. Even if they cost more. I can only use these in saying maybe the cruiser has it over the Patrol. Both are good cars just one seems to be a little bit more worth it.

The 79 has a slightly longer cab - i think around the 120mm mark.

Only reason I say the GU is cause its coil all round.. easy to mod suspension wise..

Id love a T/D 79 Series if they made em coil all round.. would be wikid

If you have a look at the posts that have favoured the tojo over the patrol, they are all talking about it being a better work ute. Yeah you can load it up more on a daily basis but it's much easier and cheaper to mod a patrol than it is to mod a cruiser to get the same ability. ;)

I looked at both about 8 months ago, and found it pretty hard to walk past a factory TD 79series. The cab is a little wider and 5 inches longer than a 75series and the TD motor is very nice. Coil fronts and leaf rears rides really well with a bit of a load. And the view over the bonnet was stacks better than the Patrol. But I spent about $8k more than if I'd got a GU.

The 79 may have a longer cab, but the seating room is better in the patol and more comforable ride etc plenty of performance to.......looked at everything before I got the patrol and have not looked back, the main turning point was mates out west only use patrols now over cruisers on the farm but with leaf rear
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
