In the days leading up to Outback Challenge I visited the Cootawundi Station to check it out. Property owners are cool. What an amazing property - it is so big. The drive way is 12 miles long and then he says his bounday is 10 miles past the hills far on the horizon.

Old ruins from the old coach house are close to camp.

An amazing netwok of creek beds, steep rocky banks, mud flats, rocky hills, flat desert country, sand - it has it all.

Chased chooks down the creek bed and when they escaped off to one side 20 pigs ran out in front of us.

Takes 10 hours to get there from Melb. That's about how long it takes to get to Wanangatta Stn in the Vic High Country.

Will post pics when I work out how.

Previously called the 4 day outback event. 4wd Monthly magazine is now the official sponsor of this event and we have mutually agreed to re-name it THE AUSTRALIAN 4WD MONTHLY CLIFFHANGER.

There are many surprises installed for this event to make it one of the best value for money, and exciting events on the Australian calendar.

Will keep you posted. Start checking out 4wd monthly mag for future updates and cliffhanger special features.

EXPENSIVE??????

I think not baby puppy!!!!

The outback challenge is double that and you don't get any food toilets or showers!!!

One camp for everyone and being able to fix your car is a big advantage!
Don't knock it till ya've tried it I say We (the two Trudi's) will be there with bells on!!

if it is 4 days fully catered its $81.25 per day so say $15.00 for the meals x 3 =$45.00 per day then its cheaper than trials or willowglen + the benifit of a shower
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!

Some updates

Post by NavRun »

Here are some answers to pm questions we are getting....

Silver City 4WD in Broken Hill are the closest dedicated and equipped workshop. (200+ k's away) Dennis, Julie and Jonathan Oliver are looking forward to the event. The truck will be at Cootawundi spectating. If/when needed, he will transport cars back to BH. There will be $100 donation to Silver City 4wd if you need to use their facilities. No point penalty (Dam site cheaper than an hourly rate). Outside assistance is permitted at Cliffhanger. You may take a spare car or trailer full of parts and spectator friends may help you rebiuild your rig over night.

There are basic workshop facilities in White Cliffs and Wilcannia but none as understanding as Silver City.

Cootawundi is 22k south of white cliffs. You may get away with just 1 full tank of fuel for the entire event, but if not you may leave fuel at camp or go into town for refuelling. LPG is at Wilcannia (80k's away).

It's hard to say how many vehicles we will have in year 1. I hope to get 20+ vehicles but 40+ is very possible.

Going to now have 2 classes - A class (OBC, ATECO, etc) and B class(Vic Winch, etc) - refer to web site in a couple of days for specs.

Hobzee
