over heating gq 4.2 diesel

went out today for a short drive about 15km round trip,on the way home she over heated went from about 1/4 to 3/4 .when i got home i shut it of and you could hear the water gushing back into the over flow bottle,let it cool down and went for another drive but did,nt over heat got home turned herof and you could hear the water gushing back into the over flow bottle again. any idea,s

Check for: Thermostat sticking, radiator blocked,mud on outer edges of radiator fins-have to remove shroud to check, cooling system not bled properly after coolant change, injection pump overfuelling, water pump damaged causing cavitation,clutch fan not working etc. 3/4 is not overheating--quite often when worked hard, guage will come up this far--as long as it comes down though to between around 1/4.

Check rad iator full to the brim in morning when cold, bottle up to bottom mark.

sounds like possible dodgey rad cap.

I let it cool down and started it up with radiater cap of there were a few bubbles coming up iam thinking maybe head gasket ??

i think you r right. go to radiator place and have a CO2 test done on the water.



Remove the radiator completely (30min job) and clean out the fins, you can only get to 1/2 of it with a hose cause of body panels, and shroud etc...

I FOUND PROBLEM THE RADIATOR HAD A BLOCKAGE , HEAD TESTED ALL CLEAR I ALSO PUT A NEW THERMO STAT IN.
