Baby seat bolt mounts in GQ

I've got to fit a baby seat into the back of the Mav wagon, got a cargo barrier, was wondering what other people have done - or is there a factory mounting point to use?

I have a 1990 Nissan wagon and I dont have a cargo barrier.
Their are three bolting points in the back floor.
If you lift the carpet you will see them, I just used on of them.

yeah there is mounting points. I fed the strap through the barrier so it wasnt straining any of teh wires, and it clips onto a designated clip. Its ahrder with drawers in the way, I had to modify mine.

Depends on the year model, they didnt have to have them if they are NA category, if is MC then it will dave them after 89-90.

Have a look on the compliance plate & there will be a section for the vehicle category, it will either say MC ( off road passenger vehicle) or NA (commercial vehicle). Mine is NA & doent have child retraint points so I will have to rig up a bar or something in mine. I was actially thinking of reinforcing the cargo barrier when I fit it & putting them there.

If you have access to the ADR,s there are location requirements in there, ADR34.

They are actually only designed to hold the child seat not be a full restraint system, the seatbelt takes most of the load in an accident, the point assists by holding the capsule/seat in position when the child moves forward in the event of an accident.

Yeah, the rig is a passenger model, the local Nissan spare parts place has no idea, and was hoping to have a factory mounting point, without having to have the bar fitted and complianced - the cargo barrier, water tank and drawers/fridge would need to be modded.

I remember on the patrol forum yrs ago, someone mentioned a bar you can get that goes across the top, but not sure where it mounts, or where to get it...

Tha bar mounts below the windows in the luggage compartment & above the trim, used to cost about 300 supplied & fitted.

I've got a mate with this same thing, but in an older 60 series without any factory mounts for the capsule/seat.

I've just done the same thing in anticipation of our new arrival in the upcoming weeks. Fitted with the cargo barrier it should have the cut outs for the strap to go through. Mounting the fixing plate to the floor behind the barrier using the approved mounting points in the floor. You will also require an extension strap for the capsule as well as the std one will not reach.

I have a 94 model GQ and have an approved anchor point bar in the back of the car. The bar goes in at roof level and bolts through where the rear seat belts used to be.....

I now have three approved points that are off the floor cause I have a full length draw system at floor level. I also believe it is better to have the strap pulling straight back cause it isn't being held up by the seat.

If you are mounting the bar like this be careful not to go higher than 30 degrees above the shoulder reference point (pictured in ADR34). The one pictured is fine but if you decided to mout it above the front corner of the rear windows the angle would be too great & the strap wouldnt work.
First one I have seen mounted up there, mot fitterd just fit it below the window, its out of the way up there though.
