Dakar springs dont ft mk's properly

As the title says they don't fit mk's properly, just a warning for anyone who was thinking of getting them, they will fit but the bit of spring that wraps half way around the rear eye rubs on the chasis, it makes a clunk over bumps, and is wearig a groove in the chasis. I only got front springs so dont no if it is a problem for the back.

who fitted them? you sure they are the right way round?

Why not take them back to ARB and get it sorted? :idea:

I fitted them, they're the right way, I was planning on going back tomorow, only had em on for 2 weeks, haven't been ale to get back earlier. For the price they cost, and the fact my patrol is a piece of crap, i'm not that worried, just thought I'd warn other people.

I talked to them today, they're going to contact me during the week to try and work something out, guy said he'd never seen it happen before.

I didn't mean for my post to sound so negative, I just worded it wrong, tired when I posted.

Other than the rubbing I'm really happy with them, happy with the ride and flex, and as I said before good price.

oi you have the right ones, Mine does the exact same thing on the passengers side. I couldn't believe it, only noticed it on Sat arvo when I went offroad. My first thought was the crappy yellow poly bushes they sold me had collapsed. There appeared to be pieces of bush comming out of the spring eye. I was planning to go back to the good old trusty rubber/steel sleave bush. Maybe my bush hasn't collapsed and the spring is just dodgy.

My next thought was to hack into the spring with the 7" and lob off a bit of the wrap.

Let me know how you go returning them...

old man emu

a couple of years back when i fitted old man emu springs to my mk the poly bushes didnt fit properly so i fitted the stock rubber/steel sleeve to the fixed end no problems, till one day the l/h front spring mount cracked and pulled away from the chassis.

Nothing to do with springs. They come off Standard.
ALL MQ's (MK's) should be re welded and gusseted.

Nothing seems to be wrong with mine and they haven't been touched at all

will agree with this, i ripped the mount off mine a few years back,they are weak and prone to cracking,

ive never had this problem either, but i can see how it can happen. the front hanger mounts are stong enough.... its where they are welded to the chassis thats is week as.... the front of the chassis has no steal there... its thin and folded over, weak.

Hay Rosey55, I'll let you no what they say, booked in Monday.

Just to clear things up properly, it wasn't a warning to not buy these springs, it was a warning to make sure thet would fit your vehicle.

Got it back today, they aren't really sure why they dont fit, said they hadn't heard of it happenig before and they'd have to do a bit of research, study the original plans and what not.
They cut the ends off where they were rubbing, maybe 10-15mm. Looks like there shouldn't be any more rubbing.
Good job as well. Much better than if I had of tried to hack into them with the grinder.
