Any ideas as to tightning a hilux LSD so it works a bit better.

if you got a full time 4wd a lsd in the front is a bad idea, will making handling and control a bitch, better off getting a airlocker for the front

Thats pretty much the right answer the LSD are not worth playin in with IMHO just go straight for the locker

part time 4x4 so on road isnt a drama. Just thinking about the idea cause I wont bother with the LSD in the rear - straight to an automatic locker there. Just thought I could do something with the front thats cheaper than a locker and possibly easier on the CV's

Traction wise, you will be better off with the lsd aslong as both wheels stay on the ground...as soon as one lifts, its all over...however, there is another big benefit of putting the lsd in...it will support the crownwheel 100% stiffer than std, and 80's are known to smash teeth...
You can get autolokas for that centre for about 500
