zooks towin capabilities

Post by Crawford »

Hey on the side of my zook it says T 860

I assume it can tow 860kg without assisted brakin?

Thats a decent size boat isnt it? I am surprised it can tow up to this ammount as that is heavier then the car..

Let me know!! cheers

where on the side?

maybe its tare 860. so its what your zook should weigh, there abouts, and so when you go to a weigh bridge you can find out how much gear and stuff you got inside.

I think it's no more than 700 kg without brakes.

T being tare sounds wrong though, as a Sierra weighs 900 odd. Unless maybe you have an early 1 litre?

The T stands for Tare so it weighs 860kg dry.
The A stands for Agregate, Which means the max weight. which is 1340kg.

Which means that it can carry a maximum of 480kg's

It may however be able to tow more than this with Brakes.

My little tinny weighs 35kg! (Allycraft 310)

The wife and I can carry it with ease (and we're only 2 horsepower!) so a Suzi would tow it anywhere.

Even on top of my box trailer it's only 150kg.

Cheers

on http://www.carsguide.com.au in the research section, it says that without trailer brakes you can tow 450kgs.
if ya aint willing to damage it then you shouldn't own it

Advice i had when lookin to buy a camper trailer is that it's the same weight with or without trailer brakes for sierra, 450kg.

Pissed me rightly as i know RAV's etc tow 800 unbraked.... then i remembered the wonderful walking rear end i felt coming out of samford with a load of dirt in a 6x4 when i hit the picks.... fact is newton wins..

if the load is bigger then the car don't count..

we can pull a shitload it's stoppin it in a hurry that'll hurt.

I was of the understanding that in most states you needed brakes on any trailer with a GVM over 750kg?

For those who don't know GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass, the weight of the trailer and its maximum load.

That is correct, any trailer that has a GVM over 750kg's need to be braked. Any trailer with a GVM of 2000kg's+ needs to have special brakes and safety chains. There is a brochure on the RTA web page about towing....I'll see if i can find it again.
