AVOCA (VIC) NAVRUN 25/26th June

Post by NavRun »

Fast approaching is our next Navrun for this year, the 3rd in fact.

The Pyrenees Ranges near Avoca is the base area.

We now have done away with our Polaroid cameras and are using digital cameras which have worked very successfully at our Woods Point navrun.

Like with all our Navruns, it is not a timed event therefore your insurance and TAC is not affected, and our events are for families, noviices and teh hardcore guys. You don't need a modified vehicle to compete.

Also don't forget about are Amazing Race in the Little/Big Desert, Sunset Country of Vic. on the Queens Birthday weekend. Once again it is not a Race, only in name only.

More info on the above and other events can be found on our website:

www.navrun.com.au or you can phone Rudi on 03 9789 6985

Regards...............

After our first attempt in Gafneys Creek we're looking forward to this one.

Was up that way with the Bendigo 4WD Club a few weeks ago and there's some great tracks around. It's very dry and some good rocks and ledges.

Bring it on!

They've had a heap of rain up there and it's slippery as hell. Rudi did a bit of damage checking out the course yesterday....

The event should be a real good one. Heaps of different courses and a variety of navigational excercises and off course some really good tracks to boot.

Basically the event is a full house, at last count there was 1 or 2 team vacancies left if anyone was still interested- but hurry.

I'm heading off there again on Thursday. Vehicle should be back on the road after severly bending my crossbar on a step on one of the notorious tracks there.
Basically I'm the guinea pig driving all the tracks to check them out. Compeditors are pre-warned of any tracks taht posess any dangers, etc

See you soon. Rudi ( Navrun Co-Ord ) www.navrun.com.au

How do you reckon you went Hottie!
I was up there with 2 other cars the weekend in a white hilux ute, with 2 others, bumped into you and Bundy a couple of times on the tracks.
I will have to give the next Navrun a go! Looked like fun! :)

Score sheet is up fellows. We only put up the restrospective positions of each team for each stage because we want to keep the overall score quiet for the end of year Procomp Series Winner.

Probably the closest Navrun yet. The top 10 and just outside was so close, we had a few ties, so Hobbsy and myself had to go through the photos again and make our decision. The Speeding penalties didn't help any of the teams which could have finsished a lot higher up.

The winners who got a perfect score, this was their second only Navrun as well. We had some other teams who could have finished 2nd or close to it put let them selves down on the final course C, and these guys have only done 1 navrun before , well done.

Looking forward to the Strathbogie Ranges Navrun 3/4th September.

seems like i got 11th. this was my first nav run and i will most likely do it again. it was a good experience. we made a few slight errors but oh well.

im still learning about my GPS and this nav comp was the first i used it in this way. the magellan fx324 is very easy to enter co-ordinates and it easy to use, it works really well.

after my first experience and only having 3 days notice of entering i think i did quite well.

I enjoyed running this one. Was bloody cold around the camp fire and lots of hang overs on saturday morning.

How about those tracks...... I heard plenty of stories about simexes down to 10 psi, lockers in and still winching to get up some steep hills.

Will have to go back there and do everything the hard way - how about a nav nite there?

Being so far away with little traffic you could probably run a navday, so spectators could get a Better look

It would be better, but because we need to block some tracks off, the general public would not appreciate it.

Your kidding me aren't you. We didn't have any trouble on any of the tracks we drove.

Maybe it has something to do with the tyres we were using hey Hobsie...? :D

We had an absolute ball on the weekend, and not only because we won!! :D

But it was well organised and it was a great area. I think, as Wombat said, you had it just about right. When only one team gets the perfect score and so many others right behind, makes for a great competition.

Well done Rudi and Hobsie

We went up Bluff, but as it was wet and didn't want to stuff around during the competition, we took the easier option.
One team decided to go for a night drive and busted their trucks and couldn't compete on the Sunday....

Got place for wheelin, thinks I might have to run a club 'A' grade trip around there... :D
