Yep, I was going to point that out as well. The reverse gears are straight cut, which are not quite as strong as forward gears. Always try to snatch forwards.

I've been pulled out in my stocky rocky more times than i like to admit (think i stoped counting after about 16!! and have only had it since feb :D )... having said that, its has gone evrywhere that my friends 6"lifted GQ Patrol has gone, with few exceptions - just takes longer and i get more panel damage
+ today i went through a boghole that he chickened on (xcuse was didnt wanna get amps wet  :D, had water up to my ankles, and in the deepest part the waterline went half way up my spare  , only pics are on phone though :x]

110% amazed at what hatsu's can do, even stock

Just a minor correction to the "don't recover in reverse" theory... it not the gearbox thats the issue its the high pinion front diff.
This is a well doccumented issue and is inherent in any high pinion design - so its a good idea to avoid it for that reason.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
