my first post in the nissan forum and i think i might be about to make a twit of myself...

i cant turn the bastard off!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yeah - in case anyone is concerned.... it's not still sitting out there idling - stalling it in gear works :D

ummmm, there's no black knob. there's only a little purple button which doesnt seem to do anything.

is it a cable operated shutoff?

yeh, mine was on the left............at first i thought it was the choke, pulled it and the engine stopped.......but you have to push it back in to start it, so yours is obviously a different set up.......

i reckon screwy would be the man to sort ya out......either that, or just ring the bloke ya bought it off. he will probably be able to sort ya out

on the side of the injecto0r pump there is a small motor, called an adic motor, these actually stop the fuel flow, to shut down the engine, common problem is for the motor to spit the dummy,

mine used to have the same prob, but i update and now the new owner has it, otherwise id get pics of the mod to shut it off for ya,

yup, thats the edic motor i was talking about, i used an after market choke cable, form the local auto store, and rigged that up, worked a treat, saves stalling the thing evry time you wanna turn it off,

If you cant be bothered with an original type cable just used some nylon coated fishing wire and attach it to something in the cab and its a simple *pull* and she will turn off.

My car had the exact same problem

basically wat is described is the Edic motor ready to throw out :D

MQs never came with a factory fuel cut off like mentioned above, they were rigged up off the edic motor as shawn described to pull the rod on the side of the motor backwards to shut off the motor and hense cut fuel supply.

when u start the car the rod on the side of the edic motor moves forward when u kill the key it moves back cutting fuel supply... if the edic motor is stuffed it wont move back so pull it back with a made up chock cable system rigged up to do it......

You might however do well to check the wiring going to it as it is commonly an electrical problem sooner than the motor being stuffed.....

if ur not too cluey on wiring just duck down to the local auto elec and ask him to check it and see whether its the motor or wiring.

if its the edic motor, rig up a cable its sooo much cheaper than trying to replace it.

i told ya screwy would know........i always thought that this was a standard thing because ive come across a few like it. and second to that my little brothers nissan 720 with a SD22 moter has the same thing. so i would assume they used the same edic moter on that engine aswell.........

ALOT and i mean ALOT of diesel motors came out with that fuel shut off system. SD33s never had it

only hand throttle and choke, the edic motor is a common problem and has been fixed in alot of models, i have had 3 and none have had it....

at the end of the day, if the edic motor is working correctly, there would be absolutely no need to have a fuel cut off on there.
