Zook Project

Post by shezzbeav »

Hey guys...

As you can see I'm a woman :finger:... there's nothing stopping from me doing research on my future zook project - it's gonna be called Project Beaver

Okay, so I plan to do up a Suzuki Sierra - that is, if I do purchase one

What I would like to do is:
- New paint job
- 2 inch body lift
- 2 inch suspension or spring leaf lift
- lockers - which lockers are recommended for a Sierra?

Any more modifications you would recommend?

I'm thinking about getting diesel, but with the current diesel prices, so I think I'll stick with unleaded petrol for now - what are your thoughts on this?

Anything else you'd like to say?

Thanks in advance! :D

Looks good.

start looking and searching around on here about what tyre sizes and gearing you are going to run. Terrain usually denotes this and also location. (like Qld and WA. :bad-words: ).

Have a think about the paint job if it is going to be going offroad, bushes scratches paintwork.

Not sure on where the other post went. :?

cheers.

Thanks, nicbear.

Am going to keep the paint on, for the time being - till it starts falling off or whatever.

Tyre sizes - am thinking either 30" or 31" - more likely Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's

Gearing - I know jackshit about gearing - will have to research on that or would you guys care to explain how gearing works in a sierra ?

Thanks for the recommendation on air lockers, alwayszookin...

I've been deadset on air lockers, but I plan on getting them later on when money allows me to.

there are many lift kits avail.. go through here and you should definently find one that suits your needs...

on the diesel topic.. although it is more expensive to buy, you should be getting at least twice the ks of a petrol.. when you look at it like that one tank compared to say almost 2 can be worth it.

the other thing to look at is that you can get up to (and maybe over) a 2lt turbo diesel.

one of the bad things about it is most diesels are a cast block instead of a alloy... so sometimes will affect the weight of a zook ..this will basically dictate what springs to use in the front to counter the extra weight.

Lol, thanks everyone.

flyinwall - will let you know if I need some help

I plan to do some of the work myself, but with mechanical stuff I'll have my partner to help me, and as well as maybe a friend or two.

Hi Shezzbeav...........Just also be aware diesel's are bloody expensive to rebuild compared to a 1.3L so make sure if you go that way that the engine you get is pretty tidy. Rockhoppers will help too.

What sort of buget are you planing on Shez?
and what type of wheeling are you planing?
this will determine a lot of things.

4AGE?? No idea what that is.

Am thinking of getting a Vitara 1.3 or 1.6L engine when I have the money.

Let's see...

- 1985 model swb soft top
- clean, very straight body (like blue in colour, clear paint flaking off on some parts)
- has a little rust on left rear wheel arch, and very small spot just under windscreen frame on left also.
- doesn't have engine, transfer or gearbox (but i do have a 1.3 available soon if interested)
- tyres are desert dueler 215RS15 (x5)
-has front and rear seats, dash etc
-no doors
