so im new to this 24v thing.....
i've already cooked my worklight
now before i blow myself and the battery charger up i just wanna confirm.... these are 12volt batteries right? 2 x 12v in series = 24v?

Get a 24v - 12v trannie guru. I've got one in my safari shorty and it goes alright. Have to agree with hooking things up to one battery though, you do kill them. I have a cigi lighter spot and a couple of other things and I have to charge my batteries with a car charger occasionally. Yes I could fix the problem, but to be honest I couldnt be bothered

ive identified the dodgy battery and swapped it with another - now before i hook it back up.... im second guessing myself now -
negative on the driver side battery goes to ground
positive on the driver side battery goes to negative on the passenger side battery
positive on the passenger side battery is power out.
correct?

Hmmmm, mines the opposite. Passengers neg to ground, positive through to drivers side negative, and drivers side positive is your 24v feed.negative on the driver side battery goes to ground

I'm running 3 converters, the factory feeds the now 12v cig. socket, an after market one feeds stereo etc, and the third is mainly a back up.
If either of the other 2 blow, I have it wired to tap straight into the wiring of the others.

yep, you can. but it stuffs up the charging system on them.......and eventually kills the battriesludacris wrote:I am sure you can get 12volts of a 24volt system if the system is using two 12 volt batteries by using one terminal on one battery and another terminal on the other battery. being an auto elec i have found a nifty readarc product called a charge equilizer which will guarantee same applied voltages to each battery lets say 13.6 each when running
very good if you get just one dead battery all the time with no draw off it
bout 250 bucks well worth it
