ROUND 3 "THE DECIDER''
CANCELLED
It was all looking good until we got out of bed and found the entry at the creek running about 2 meters deep and it is still raining. We also have roads blocked North Coast and inland blocked due to flooding. (we are also cut of from everyone, but it looks like Phil "Dusty" Cordell is coming to the rescue getting gear to set up for a flying fox over river. Most go help is here.
Weather is expected to start clearing tomorrow and forecast for next week is looking great. So look forward to catching up with all next week
ROUND 3 WILL NOW BE 8TH - 10TH JULY:- Next weekend.
Regards MMM

Just a quick update. River is still the same level and bridge between Beechwood & Wauchope should just be running over.
Flying fox was a sucess, we were able to get out and get stores in for 4 adults & 2 children. Many thanks to Phil "Dusty" Cordell, David Cordell, Neal & Paul.
Guys all I can say it is a buz to sit on a little chair being pulled over a very fast flowing and angry river, photos will be up on my web site ASAP.
Will keep you informed on weather leading up to Round 3 next weekend.

Little bit cooler then last week and today has very high cloud cover. Has not rained since Friday. Very sunny Saturday and Sunday.
If in doubt, call 0418 745 830 and get daily update.
This is going to be a great Round and a good finish to a very close Series.
See you all 8th - 10th July.

Ok just got back.
Great weekend,Very bloody windy....
Anyway here are some results i remember
This round
1st NORM WALTERS and navi(sorry don't know his name)
2nd Laurie sternbeck and navi
3rd Peter Sterling and navi
Overall series winner
1st LAURIE STERNBECK
2nd i think was norm walters
3rd i think was peter sterling.
BIG to laurie for really showing consistancy and serving it up to the big boys...Top effort mate....
Sorry if i got any of the results wrong,i'm only going off memory....and we all know what a case of jimmy will do to that....
Now for some carnage reports
This weekend saw
*Team waeco destroy a winch(but good effort guys for trying to get it fised on the side of the hill...)
*Manni found a tree stump this arvo which decided it did not want to move,So the rear diff came of second best,(snapped trailing arm, shock, and rear pinion.)oh and then some re-modeling of the left front carbon fibre quarter panel during recovery.
*Peter Sterling found a stump on one of the many hill climbs and rolled basically over backwards/sideways.
*Team Justa Nissan did some creative panel beating to the left rear door, left front gaurd and snorkel.
* Fester's cut down red 80 series, snapped the right front ball end off the diff, But to there credit was welded back on and back out there soon after,Driving just as hard...
Anyway thats all i can remember for now,And no i don't have pics.I was slack and left the camera at home....
And a huge for dave metcalfe and his team of troopers for setting up and running another great event...

xwc round 3
Unbeleivable bad luck for team Waeco, led virtually all weekend just to DNF last stage & with everyone being so close dropped to 2nd.
A huge congratulations to Laurie Sternbeck & Sean Calcino for winning the series, a great effort in a top little TOYOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Also to Normy & jason, Peter & Paul for a fantastic series.
Good luck to Laurie down at the ATECO with his new super sub navi MMM. A hat was passed around on sat night & enough money was raised to fit a couple of cameras in Lauries car(maybe one on MMM as well) for those who can't make it down for the laugh.
Also good luck to team WAECO at the ATECO go the GOLD COASTERS.
Bruce

It was a good weekend as a driver i feel very sorry for all the navi's out there the water must have been freezing. If only MMM would stick to the rules that he states i know it is his comp but if he says something he should mean it not change the rules on sunday after the comp has finished Congratulations to all the winers we had a good run and am glad to have finished Very well prepared event apart from a few things that might need fixing before next time...
Cheers

Yeehaaaaaaaaaa!
Yeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Team Waeco - an XWC win at last!!
We thought we'd blown it on that last stage when the winch broke, one (reverse winch) downhill from the finish.
What a fantastic weekend and now with a fairytale finish for us!
As we missed out making a speech at the presentation I'd just like to say a big thanks to Andrew my co-driver who works relentlessly to maintain the truck and to our many mates that help out in so many ways. We have some very understanding families too.
Waeco, Staun, Sean at SEQ 4x4 and other sponsors all make it possible for us to compete successfully. Thanks to all of them also.
Congrats to Lawrie Sternbeck/Sean Calcino for their 3rd place outright, 1st in class and and Series win. GO the Gold Coast and GO Nissan!
