Soon my humble G13BA is going to go through a serious transformation and i got to finalise my shopping list :twisted:

With a Gti forged crank i'll have a multiV pulley so i'm taking the oppotunity to upgrade the Alternator and install a clutch fan.

It then struck me that the stock pulley for the fan is a single v and will need to be replaced. Any vitara owners out there be able to tell me if their pulley is Multi V? From which years? (i'm gussing yes on account of the JLX models and such having powersteering)

Secondly is the alternator, i search through old post on this and other forums and the answers very greatly

I've done some calculations and i'm aiming for a 70-

Anyone know the amp ratings of any of the following?

SWIFT GTI
SWIFT BALENO
VITARA
GRAND VITARA
XL7'
LIANA


If anyone has a Suzuki Parts finder i'm interested in buying a copy as it would really make my job a lot easier :)

ADDED What are the major gasket manufactures in australia?
I'd like check for what sort of materials they use and interchagebility of certain gaskets

Have a look at the Bosch alts. I think the EL ford one is a easy fit. around 120amp

The 13B one I put on my vitara was a higher amperage and easier to swap brushes in, If you're getting an EFI engine then use the alternator that comes with it - EFI ones are always relatively high rated.

there's a few threads on Izook and places about using Buick V6 alternators and the instructions to make the brakets the right lengths.

would you be able to check the exact part number on that alternator Beastmavster? (in fact any alphanumeric markings)
(getting a special efi engine but it may not come with the alternator so i'll find out in 3 days :armsup: )


Still need to find out about the fan pulley i am dead set against a electric fan

The 8V 1600 vitara motors have a multirib pulley on the water pump that will bolt straight onto a G13. The have a viscous fan too.

A mazda KL series engine alternator is 90A and will bolt on the the lower mount if you open up the holes in the mount.
The top mount needs to be bent to fit round the alternator, but its a fairly easy fit. Its two wire as well.
It's also multirib and lines up with the zuk pulleys.

I have a problem with my battery going flat after sitting for a couple of weeks though, so I think I've farked up the wiring or overlooked something...

Whats wrong with an electric fan? I've got a Subaru fan on mine and it fits perfectly and works fine. Runs on a thermoswitch, and can be overridden when crossing deep water/mud.

Thanks, i look out for the pulley at the wreckers, as for the thermofan i'm trying to make this a clean/tidy install and it's just one more thing running off the battery that isn't nessesary (besides i want to use the water pump anyway and have a clutch fan sitting in my bits box :D)

I still have a good 8V Vitara clutchfan in my garage. Fine to send to Sydney but not to Rio :D

So now i have my Multy rib vitara pulley and a mint 75amp Jimny alternator :armsup:

Please check out my wanted list to see if you can help out with other stuff.

Now when i picked up my pulley there was a pwr steering in the 16v vit.

What i would like to know is what does the vitara pitarm look like?

I ask this as i don't ctually no what it is in relation to the steering and when i go back with cash and say give me the complete set up i need to know what that is... :?

be carefull runnin a clutch fan on a gti motor, u no how fast these things spin? make sure u got the right dia pulley or u will be goin thru clutches, i went thru 2 runnin it on a 1.6 8 valve in the sierra.

thanks bazooked... i figure as both the clutch fan and the pulley are off a vitara then it should kick in at the right time... after all the pulley is the same diameter as the standard sierra one

by the way was your gti blessed with round intake manifold or did it have the square approach of the masses?

The vitara pitman arm is retivly flat and bent like a banana. personly i wouldnt use it.(i didn't on mine) but a targo arm fit and looks rather like a serria one only without the steering damper holes.
There is also a resivoir in the vitara setup.
Its a wheelbase thing

The wedge is not something you would buy it somthing you make. the vitara chassie comes together towards the front of the car a serria does not. A wedge shape block of steel with bolts out one side to fit to chassie and bolts outside the other to fit the pump. I will be making another soon for cut4bs car and will put some pics up.

More general info, long shot i know but are any of the jimny or vitara fuel tanks bolt in to a Wide track Sierra? I was originally just going for an external efi but there seems to be a greater range of intank designs that suit alcohol use.

The coily has the facility for a bolt intank pump right?
