Zook Forum - Updates

Post by sierrajim »

Hi All,

There have been a few requests around here to update the Zook Tech Info.

I don't have enough time to get this all done myself so input by others would be appreciated. If you could please post links to threads that contain USEFUL tech information i will collate them into the tech info section in the coming weeks.

Whilst you're posting these links please update the threads with any information that you may see as relevant.

This will be constructed in much the same way as the Nissan section. So when this is set up we can advise new comers to the forum to take a look in there instead of telling them to search through 1000's of threads.

Please if possible update your Post in the Zook Forum Members thread at the top of the page and where possible briefly explain why you've modded your car in any particular way and mention what sort of terrain you drive.

Thank you,

James

All great minds think alike. I've just started collecting links aswell. Simillar to the nissan section would be great as its a good example of how it works.

It may take someone some time to get it up, but the end result is a great addition and resource for all members
we have them but people don't seem to think to look in there. There is lots of good tech and links etc in them but people have to use them.
The zook "bible" is not any where near the standard of the Nissan section bibles and that is probably why people aren't using it at the moment and persisting on posting up the same old repeated query so frequently.

We had much the same problem in the Nissan section and the bibles do curve allot of the repeated post syndrome, BUT every-ones situation is slightly different but once having read the bible they generally have a far better under standing of what they are indeed enquiring about before blurting out a silly question and waiting for the arrival of a flame suit.

You obviously have several keen and knowledgeable zook owners here so why not utilise their "skills" and set up a bible in sections....
Make the actual zook members responsible and allow them to have input and control over it. There is absolutely no reason as to why one individual couldn't collect ALL the relevant information on say Diffs and then post up one page titled "Zook Bible" and with the header of their special section "DIFFS" at the start of their page, then the page would have all the shortcuts listed to the relevant posts.......
The next person could simply "post a reply" to it and then post up their chosen "special section" say Motor conversions.... and so it grows.

When I created the MQ / MK bible, I was NOT a mod at the time neither were 2 of the other bible authors, yet they are still there..... still being used ...... and still being updated.

In hind sight it would have been easier if 2 or 3 others had of helped out in the initial construction of the MQ bible but that was they way it was done at the time.
As for keeping it updated, its child's play, simply click "edit" and then edit the post and add the new link, & then click submit

Half a dozen members could easily take on a "special section" each and the work load would be very easy compared the Nissan bibles on setting up.

The trick is to have it on your own puter as a 'notepad' or "Word" document as most of the sorting and editing can be done easily from there along with any spelling mistakes and general layout corrections before its ever posted. the other advantage is that should something go wrong with the Zook bible and its lost then the members simply copy from their notepad or word doc and Tonka the page they created.

Do "Bibles " work ????????
Hell yeah !, we have 4 bibles in the Nissan section and since their "birth" have had .........

10927 VIEWS IN TOTAL !!!!

The MQ / MK bible took me about 3 days to compile all the relevant info on and about 20 mins to post it up uninterrupted. The then sole moderator at the time ( Wendle ) made it a sticky and the rest is history.......

All you need is a few volunteers to take on a section

Well why are you still sitting there :?:

I've done my share of bibles ! :finger:

Kingy
I think probably two sections one for sierra and one for vitara?
So anyone that would like to assist in the collection of the links for the bible, just post up what links you are collecting (eg: SPUA vs SPOA, Diffs, Injections, Liftkits, offset rims that sorta thing) in this thread, that way we'll avoid anyone doubling up by both collecting links for the same topics. Once you've collected some links edit your original post so that anylinks that you add are present in your original post. After a few weeks we'll organise all the links into some easily usable threads AKA the ZOOK FORUM BIBLES

EDIT: Made ya a sticky James.

The thread still exists
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... sc&start=0

I believe that is was unmade a sticky due to complaints about the number of sticky's in the zook section. People who are creating new threads just to show a pic of their rig to the zook forum without actually posting any tech should be posting a pic of they're rig in this thread. If they want to discuss the rig create a thread in the members section and post the link with the pic of their rig.
It can be remade a sticky but if there are going to be complaints about the numbers of sticky's in the zook section (which will increase by another one once the bibles are ready) than there's no point bringing it back. So what'll it be?

I agree to make it again. maybe two pics, specs, terrain etc.

Maybe combine the glossary that does not have many tech in there and also the general tech. most of the threads don't exist or have no pics.

cheers

Sorry guys i've deleted your extra posts. I'd really like to keep this thread on topic and as a place for the collection of information.
If you want to start a thread praising the great job that largesuzy is doing then please do it general chit chat.
If you'd like to join in the fun then pick a subject. Use the SEARCH function to search for all relevant threads and then copy the url's for the relevant thread into a word document or text and collate them ready to be posted up. It really is that simple.

I know this forum is SJ413 heavy but would be nice if we split the Sierra section into SJ410 and Sj413 (after all there are some differences) Of course we need to pay tribute to the LJ's

(in my opinion SJ410 don't get enough coverage, too foten the answer is upgrade it to a 1.3lt then take it from there )

I would like to say a big thanks to matt ‘largesuzy’ for collecting a heap information to get the sierra bible started so quickly and efficiently. He has agreed to keep the bible organised so if you have anything that you would like to add to the bible just send him a pm.

Is there any of the Vitara owners that would like to help with the Vitara ‘bible’?

so who's doing the Vitara Bible? Vitara's are Suzukis too.

EDITED: moved all the links and info into another thread.

if this becomes a bible, i will try to find more and add, as well as trying to keep it updated. if anyone else's willing to help out, that would be appreciated. we need to sort the zook section out.

SiKid_01, Its excellent that your prepared to help with a vitara ‘bible’, would you like to be in charge of maintaining the Vitara bible? If so please create a new thread as the vitara bible and post up your links. I'll make it a sticky. People can then PM you more links or add them to this thread.
Don’t forget to read through kingy’s suggestions. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=48738
I’m more than happy to collect your links and add them to a vitara section myself but it would be better if we can get a few people involved in the running of the Suzuki section. It creates a better sense community, which I believe the section has been lacking of late.
