On Sat myself (4BD1 Rangie), LRH (in my car) DEF90 & Martin, and Ian Best (Not on the forum) & Scott (In Ian's SWB Patrol) went for a shakedown run in the Watagans for the freshly finished Defender 90 of DEF90.
We started off fairly easy with nice little hill with a few ruts and small steps. Nothing too hard.
We then progressed to a fairly steep down hill with a medium washed out rut/step half way down and a largeish (4 foot) rut at the bottom that was about 30deg down hill. It got a few hearts racing but all managed to get down ok.
We played on a few other easy tracks that were quite steep but no ruts or other problems.
By now it was about 1pm, so I asked if they wanted to keep going as we needed to get back on to the road for the next track, everyone was happy to do so, so off we went to the Zig Zag track.
Given the amount of rain over proceeding few days, it still wasn't that wet going in the bottom of the track. Then we got to quite a large mud hole that Ian decided to walk through.
Def 90 was the only one to give it a go and although he didn't get through, it was a valiant attempt and was able to reverse out thanks to those great Simex tyres.
The next section was quite slippery with some of us needing a few attempts to get through and we needed to clear a fallen tree. Then came the best part of Zig Zag, the steep, narrow, rutted and rocky hill climb. Execpt for a few small hiccups we all drove this section very well with a great deal of care not to end up at the bottom of the valley.
All in all a great day with a couple of minor car probs but that is what a shakedown run is for.

Easy way is to look for Whitemans Lane off Doorolong Road, go to the top of it and then you can come down Zig Zag and then up Hell Hill.TurboRA28 wrote:Hey, just thinking of heading up to the wattagans this weekend.. Where are these tracks? Look quite good!
Cheers
