fuel tank
Problem can be caused by the tank sender arm intermittently loosing contact with the resistive strip. This happens when the plastic hooks holding the arm wear out, allowing the arm to loose contact through its travel. Remove sender and check. Sometimes you can gently--and CAREFULLY heat the small hooks and bend them back into shape.
