WA Navrun on for '06 if we get enough interest!!!

Post by ausyota »

Rudi Paoletti wrote:QLD & WA Navruns- It is with great regret we have had to postpone these Navruns due to a low number of entrants. We need at least to make a 60% target to break even. Being a long way from home incurs large expenses and unfortunately we would be running at a loss. Victorian Navruns have been very good to us, almost getting a full house everytime. We will be concentrating on the Victorian ones at this stage.
Cmon WA Wheelers!!!
They only need 20 teams (40 vehicles) to hold the comp.
Everyone complains there are not enough comps in WA and then guys from the East go to the trouble to try and hold an event over here no one gets behind them.

Email navrun@navrun.com.au and show your interest.

Paul.

I had 4 people interested but it clashes with round 4 of the WA offroad racing championship so none of us can go. Is there a change of dates?

Hey guys is there any more info on this.

I think alot of guys in WA are looking for this type of event were they can run semi standard rigs.

The rules would be set out and everyone would know whats going on.

I'm sure their is plenty of tracks for this around west oz.

I would still be up for it if Rudi decided to run one over here.
They sound like a great way to spend a weekend, Bit of fun and competition.
I bought a GPS specially for last years Navrun that never happened.
I was getting one anyway but the idea of having the comp made me keen.

Definately sounds good. Now I'm not working I've got a bit more time up my sleeve. Being in the holidays or not in the uni exam periods would make it even better  . I rekon I could get a mate or two to come along as well, make a weekend out of it, only poblem is they just need a gps :D . An event that isn't gonna bust my car up appeals a lot more now that I'm nearly broke :D

Thats what i was thinking, the comp would suit the majority of WA 4by's that arn't extremely moddified.

You could hold the comp through boddington/dwellingup/collie/ brunswick/ harvey..

The best thing about the comp is that the rules will be sorted and everyone will know aware of teh requirements.

I emailed the organisers several months ago expressing interest on behalf of two teams - it obviously wasn't enough at the time, but if there was a greater interest registered, we'd definitely be in it!

Well maybe I’m bored but I would love to see this happen so I will put a few names down and if people can ask some clubs that would be good.

A1jeep and Trev, or sisters BF
Bazooked
Badooky and Tripod
Badluck
Bevan
Duncan and Dave
Steve
Zac (I’m scared just typing that!)

I could contact the Bush bappo’s, I think they might enter two teams

Could someone contact Quad drive, or does anyone have a contact detail?

I’ll post up on Perth 4x4 as well to see what interest they have.

Remember the target is 40 cars, twenty teams. This should be easy considering you don’t need mods.

If you guys can get 20 teams, we will come down and host the Navrun for you guys.

Once we have the rough estimate of the 20 contenders, we will then set a date, place and then each team must pay a deposit.

Thanks guys for showing interest and support.

If it was a go ahead, one place I was looking at was the Collie Region.

Any thoughts?

Awsome. I'm starting to get the gps and lappy set up now  If the nav night goes ahead can you guys post up too, it gives me an excuse to fit the spare pair of spotties lying around ;) . Is the nav night a hardcore event or doable in a stock fourby?

I found collie was great fun when I went down there, heaps of tracks to explore and plenty of challenges if your after them. Some of the more experienced guys will be able to offer more advice on good locations though.

Sounds good. what timeframe are we looking at and how long are the stages (km). Finally what cost is involved (only event cost for team or individual).

Agree on the subaru club (seen a sic vid of there club days)

Thanks Rudi.

Well from what I can gather of the website, Navrun is a navigation type event (Not a race or speed type event) which travels through the bush to different locations. The hard thing is finding the location and getting the required mark. Also while you are driving to different locations you need to answer questions to gain more points.

The event is setup so that it is suitable to any 4wd/Awd in stock form.

What you will need:

GPS (The expensive part)
UHF
Recovery gear
4wd/Awd

Navrun supplies all maps for the event.

At the end of the event there is a presentation night, which is a BBQ. Awards and prizes are handed out to the winners (I think top ten).

That’s all I know and that’s from just having a read around the web yesterday.

AJ….. Mate I figured you would be in for a weekend of mud, so I dobbed you in.
Stuee… Good to see you are committed
Gordon… as above

So guys now we need to find some teams, so if you are in a club or anything let people know and see what numbers we can get.

Ausyota who was interested before?

Ensuring this event doesn't clash with any others would be an important goal for the organisers to accomplish. Does anyone have a calender of other events occuring this year? There's the following that I vaguely recall:

Sunrise Park - June 24/25, Aug 5/6, Oct 21/22
Jeep muster - June 3/4/5 ?
Manjimup Motor madness - June 6?
Gascoyne Dash - sometime in Oct?

Cheers,

Gordon

Hey WA guys. I highly recommend these events. They are good fun and well organised. Try hard to get commitment from twenty teams cos once you've had one you'll want one every year.
The concept is simple. You get given route notes at the start of the day, either grid references or stick map style. You go to the locations, replicate a photo ( digi supplied) answer some sponsor/navigation questions and then spin crap around the camp fire at night.
All i can say is.. DO IT!.
