One problem with fitting those size tyres will be gearing. With the piss poor standard gearing ratios in the rocky, fitting 35's will throw everything out of whack.

35" tyres
If you swap to hilux diffs at the same time with the standard 4.8s ratio or whatever they are 35s will be perfect. I have 33s with spoa hilux diffs and the top speed is about 90kmh comfortably you can push it to 100 but you start chewing the diesel.

okay, so you've sent me the PM. Sorry, didnt realise which forum that was for. I would have to agree with Layto, the gearing with 35's would be horrendous. You can make anything fit, just depends on how good, or otherwise, you are with a grinder. May need wheels spacers or offset rims to stop tyres from hitting stuff.

today i'm running on 31x11,5 R15 original suspension. my front tyres rub against the frame when turn the wheels to much, spacers are on the way. i also plan to cut out my fenders a bit.
if i run on 33's, am i still gonna have problems with the gearing?
about the hilux diffs, should i just change the diffs or the whole axel?
any special year of the hilux?

I been thinkin a bit.. I think i'll skipp the 35's and go for 33's instead.
is there a special year of the hilux diffs I should be lookin for? here in sweden we also have the Volkswagen Taro, wich is the exact same car as the hilux, so it shouldn't be to hard finding new diffs.
will I be able to use the original props from the transfer case to the diffs or won't they fit?
anybody that has done this transplantation before, I'd like just about all the tips in the world..

Hello,
the gearing can handle 35" tyres, we have 4 Rocky's with that size of tyres on it and original gearing, only the 5th gear is a bit difficult to drive.
Now my friend is gone get 38.5x11R15 super swamper boggers on his Rocky and swaps the diffs from a F20 (ratio3.363 to 4.777)

I've a few friends who are using 35 inch on the crapy 3.9 original ratio. Well it still seems to move but i say is stupid. I'm also going for the same route soon once i can get hold of an F20 final drive which i've just found recently.
As for fitting 35inch on Rocky u can either go for spring over axle. But i've seen a few in action and i had to recover a few after turning turtle going down hill.
Another way would be a typical 3 inch lift and cut the fenders. Ugly but effective and safe.
