hey i have asked this before but didnt quick get the answer i was after but my problem is i cannot have an engine driven fan because my engine sits to far farward and there is only about and inch between the water pump pulley and radiator. i currently have 2 davis craig 10"' thermos and the stock radiator any help in what i should do would be much appreciated
Its important that the fans are close together preferably side by side on the side that flows back into the engine if they cant fully cover it. if there is too much space between them they are not as efficient.
its also important that the fans cover the radiator from top to bottom as much as possible as this prevents any hot water getting back into the engine without being cooled.
also make sure you havent been given the wrong fans as in the your application requires a pull thru but you may have a push thru.

hay mate, like guzzla said if you have the fans pulling through the hot engine air thats bad!! but you would have too be stoopid to not notice that!
um, i have a standard radiator running a v8 which is not that good, but if you have a Davies craig EWP it will keep the lid on it with the smaller radiator.
What sort of donk do you have in it mate??

edelbrock torker manifold
350ci jetted out rochester
stage two heads
sage four cam
flat top pistons
port work.
the fans are covering all the radiator that is visable through the radiator support panel and there is no gap been them. the fans do push. and the high temp is without a thermostat any other ideas for a bigger radiater keeping in mind it is a worked engine and with the bigger cams even in say torana these engines can get hot one they have been worked.

Putting a thermostat back in will help. Test it first in a pot of water with a thermometer. A lot of overheating problems I've encountered have been due to malfunctioning thermostats. If it doesn't cure your problem, then it was cheap to find out - if it does, then you've got more $$$ to spend on other toys.
Does the water flow across and through the radiator? Ideally the inlet and outlet should be on opposite sides. If not, a baffle in the top tank can re-direct the flow. We used to cure overheating problems in turbo Troopys this way

sounds interesting but id out of my price range my problem seems to be on the road it will hapily idle between 80 and 90 in the driveway for 20mins or so but after that it seems to get hot has anyone tried on 16inch thermo or where and how much for a desent radiator
if everything else seems ok then the next thing is to have the radiator fully cleaned. will cost a couple of hundred bucks but would be cheaper if you remove and replace your selfbut considering it only stays cool for 15 min appears to indicate a water flow problem. maybe worth checking the water pump while your at it.

I don't know why you would expect a radiator designed to cool a standard 4 cyl to cool a worked V8 successfully. Try fitting a radiator designed to handle the requirements of your motor. I had a com V6 in my hilux and fitted a holden 3 core V8 radiator from a HZ. It cost $260 brand new and was not that hard to fit with a 1 inch body lift.

hey i now have installed a engine driven flex fan with a shroud and i still have the twin thermos also i put in the thermostat and i can idle for 20 minutes and it wnd exceed 85 i havnt tried any longer but it seems pety good but the question will be out on the road
I had a bit of a cooling issue in my 40 with a 350 Chev
I bought a temp switch kit from Jaycar which senses rising temperature so it switches the fan(s) on before the motor actually gets too hot for the fans to make any difference.
Cost about $30 from memory and after a bit of mucking around setting up the switch point and rising temperature rate it works really well.
