Rim and Tyre size
Hey all just a quick Q. Are 12.5 wide tyres ok on a 15x 10 rim or will i have to down to a 15x8 or wat bout a 10.5 on a 15x10
cheers luke

Having seen plenty of 12.5's on 8's, and owning 12.5's on 7.5's (beadlocked 7's... I know that's stupid, but I have major $$$$ in my rims and offset issues to contend with) I would say that a 12.5 is way happier on a 10 than on an 8, but a 9 might be just right. 8's make 12.5's crown excessively, and this is more noticable on a cross ply tyre than a radial.
I believe that ther might be some 9's available? ( I might be making that up???) but I know that the most common fitment for 17" Krawlers in the states is a 9, so that might indicate something.

8's or 10's
12.5's will go on either the most common being 8's but 10's will be fine!
rims
hey mate, a mate of mine is running 35'' x 12.5'' on 15'' x 8'', no problems, but another guy i know is running the same tyres but on 10'' rims and is for ever popping the bead, so make of that what you will, and i run 33'' x 12.5'' on 7''s, and never had a drama,m they bag a bit at low pressure but have never popped a bead, even at 8 psi and no bead locks,
bucketofbolts is sold, :(
i run 15x8's with my 33's let em down to 8 to 9psi everytime, never rolled one off the bead yet,
i'm now getting 15x10 beadlocked rims for my 37's
15x10's will pull off the bead easier than a 8" rim.(thats y i'm getting locked rims, i just want the smaller backspace, 10" rims will do that for me.)
if it's goin to be a everyday rim,(no changing of tyres to go bush).
then i'd go with the 15x8's

Have run 12.5s on 7s for ages at low pressures in compsand have never lost a bead.
The thinner rimm will hold the bead tighter, protect the bead and the side wall (by drawing them inwards) and expose the shoulder for greater lateral grab.
On a 10 the bead and side wall hang out too far and are exposed, plus it will never hold the bead as tight especially at low pressure.
