Q1:was wondering if anyone can tell me if the rear tailshaft on a sd33 4spd ute is different in length to a wagons one ie: i need to replace it so i would have to get one from a ute ive got one from a shorty which by the way is to short if anyone wants one or swap
Q2:the other nite out i noticed noise coming from the truck when traveling with the hubs locked but in 2L this was more noticed on bitumen section we had to drive along at 50-60 ks it seems to be coming from middle to front of the truck it sounds like loose rattley sound anyone have ideas
i did do search of the bible but couldnt find any real answer

The rattle will be a worn slip joint in the front shaft. Mine is the same, if you get under the truck and give the shaft a shake you will feel the play. Pumping it full of grease will shut it up a bit, but only real fix is to replace/repair the shaft.
thanks for the info mine does not have a double cardin joint so i can rule that out but will check the other parts and may try fit the spare one i have but i dont know how good it is either

as long as the motor and box combo is the same ( i.e 4 speed SD33 )
The shaft lengths are the same front to rear.
Diesels never had double cardon shafts in them only L28 petrol cause the box is closer to the diff as the petrol motor is shorter than the diesel so the double cardon allows the normal operation of the shaft under the larger angle.

my mq shorty diesel had a double cardon front
ths first ive ever seen..... did it have a lift in it? may have been an aftermarket thing of some stage.

it was an 85 turbo diesel with a five speed, a mate put a double cardin in his shorty it was out of a diesel mq but thats all i know of where it came from.
if anyone wants one or swap
