do you have a double cardin joint in your front tail shaft?

if you do, it could be that it is worn, or the unis may be warn, had this drama in my previous MQ

The rattle will be a worn slip joint in the front shaft. Mine is the same, if you get under the truck and give the shaft a shake you will feel the play. Pumping it full of grease will shut it up a bit, but only real fix is to replace/repair the shaft.

Wagon and Ute have the same wheel base.

as long as the motor and box combo is the same ( i.e 4 speed SD33 )

The shaft lengths are the same front to rear.

Diesels never had double cardon shafts in them only L28 petrol cause the box is closer to the diff as the petrol motor is shorter than the diesel so the double cardon allows the normal operation of the shaft under the larger angle.
