Leaking master cylinder...

Post by Cossie »

Just noticed my master cylinder is leaking brake fluid from the joint with the servo. Anyone know if you can get a seal kit for them, or if there is a single seal that I can replace?

Its a 89 maverick TD42.

Take it off and pull it apart, have alook at everything, if you can see a seal damaged, im sure you can replace it. If its somthing serious buy another one :)

goto Nissan and buy a rebuild kit. Only about $50-60 bucks.
It comes with piston, rubber spring and c clip.

There may also be a scratch down the inside of the bore. I had this also so spent another 50bucks at the brake shop and they had the bore honed out and a stainless sleeve inserted. Works well so far.

You can get a seal kit from nissan or a brake shop. The factory don't reccomend honing the original without sleeving, but I have seen quite a few honed out and re kitted, with no loss in fluid or failures. Can be easily done at home with fine grade stones and some lube.
Built, not bought.
