TB42 carby won't idle

Post by blkmav »

Almost every time I stop at traffic lights my mav either revs at about 400 rpm or stalls completely. If it revs at 400 I jump on the throttle at 1200 rpm to keep it from stalling. This would happen 5 out of 10 times, the other 5 times it idles fine at 800 rpm.

Any ideas?

The Carby Shop in Wantirna.

Take the car there and tell Nigel what you use it for.

He has done a fair few of the Team Carby Comp Cars.

Thanks Lockee, I have bought a carby kit for it and will be fitting that with a mate this weekend. Doesn't look that hard. After that I'll take it to Nigel to get the tuning adjusted.

Update - I returned the carby kit and had Darren at Carby Better in Moorabbin rebuild the carby and tune it on the car. Went for a drive in the bush today and it’s awesome. Darren did a great job, highly recommended.

If it happens again just swap middle 2 plug leads to backfire thru carby. Will blow crap out of idle jet and air bleed.
