Whats this engine worth
Ive had the engine in my rangie worked on in the last few months. so im keen to know what its worth, Ultimately i have to sell the rig but i dont know whether to wreck it or sell it whole.
-4.4 block, machined & Bored 40thou, engine has been completely rebuilt top to bottom. including 3.5 rover heads, every thing new dual valve springs ect.(better flow and bigger valves than the 4.4 heads). mild cam, electronic dizzy, elderbrock 4 brl inlet manifold. Extractors. fitted with a haltech injection system with computer module. done approximately 2500 km. dyno reports later week hopefully.
engine is very tight and runs smooth as, reciepts for over $4500 in parts, all profes done.

hmm i was thinking along the same lines. Wouldn't pay that much for a p76. Still interested to see the dyno report thou!landy_man wrote:if it is bored to 40 thou... that is pretty much it's last rebore as far as I know...
Would be impressed if you could get more than $2000 for it in my opinion..
It is still only a p76 engine and you can get new 4L/4.6L engines for not much more than that these days
Graeme Cooper offered me a BRAND NEW 4.6 short 2weeks ago for $3600.
They have come down.
It doesn't matter how much you have spent, what matters is the price of the alternative.
Ask me how much I think my pristine 92 Vogue is worth, then see how much I can sell it for. Sob.Sob. Lucky I do not want to sell it.
Also the 4.4 is illegal to put in any car after 76 build. Doesn't seem to matter for rego but you never know.
Seeing you asked the question, it seems a bit off for you to rubbish the answers!!! I think your market is restricted, as those with later cars would probably not consider a 4.4. ( I wouldn't) I reckon $2000 would be ambitious.

It really depends on the dyno charts as well, with out any the $2000 will be about the right starting point, but dont be suprised at offers under $1000 unfortunately its just the way things are with rovers.
With the dyno graphs (assuming they show healthy figures) $2000 and up might be an easy sale, but it may take time to find the right customer. sumone that deosnt wanna spend the money doin an engine up, or just wants an already setup motor.

quiet simply its worth what ever some one will pay.
If only one wants not worth much.
Now if 2 want then you just may get a good price.
