Front end vibration after swivel hub clean/inspect?

Help please.

Stripped down, inspected and greased the swivel hubs & CV's on the weekend (89 LWB GQ). Also replaced inner axle oil seals. All other parts replaced with same.

Upon reassembly I now have a front drive line vibration which is speed related (faster the wheel speed, faster the shake/noise is). Fastest I tried it up to was 40 km/h in 4wd.

Happens in 4Hi & Lo with hubs unlocked, 2wd hubs locked, but not 2wd hubs unlocked so I figure its somewhere between front axle and t/case. As I did nothing to the t/case, front shaft or r&p gears must only be the axle shafts/cv's making the vib, noise.

All bolts/nuts torqued to factory spec. Same c-clips used for axle end float.

Any thoughts on what I did wrong with reassembly? :?:

No ideas, but would you have the part #'s from the seals etc that you used? I gotta do my left front.

Take front drive shaft off and go for a spin. My bet is its that.........

Buggered if i know why, but what else could it be????

i have heard of vibrations been created when too much grease is jamed in around the cv, how much did you pack in there?

Wheel bearings were replaced about a month ago and there ere no vibrations after that.

Yeah I put a fair hunk of grease on the CV's, filled em up as good as I could by hand and smeared over the top of the star about 1/2" as well. Wonder why that could cause vibes though?

Will go for a slow longer drive tonight in 4wd to try and spin some of excess grease off the CV's and see if that works.

It could also be the castor.. sounds stupid, but if it's had a castorline or proaxle castor adjusters put in you have to put the top and bottom bearings back in exactly the same way or it can throw the castor out upto 4 deg. usually they're only put in the passenger side though.
