Triton Diff Ratios

Post by Rubber-Lubber »

I've got a 91 model 2.6l petrol Triton, pretty stock, and am wondering if anyone knows what ratios they were available in. Am looking at fitting a LSD and thought you guys might be able to help with some info.
Thanks

I'd bet it's got 4.625 diff ratio's.
There should be a compliance plate under the bonnet somewhere or on the firewall with the diff ratio, gearbox etc.
Only 2 diff ratio's from that era 4.625 or 4.875.
If it's a 2.6 I bet it runs the 8" rear diff so you could get a Paj lsd in that size (ex 2.6 Paj) in either ratio that will just bolt in.

Thanks Bitsa, you're right 4.625. Can a LSD be thrown in the front. I"m wanting one for the rear, but if it works fine then the front might come later.
Thanks

Yes I think it is.
Rumour has it that early Starions ran the 7.25" lsd rear diff which the centre will pretty much bolt into the front of the early Triton 7.25" small diff.
I don't know anyone in Oz that has done it though.
Some of the Yanks have done this mod.
The only thing is that I thought all Starions were open diffed until the unleaded 86 on versions (8" lsd rear diff) in the Oz market anyway, but I could be wrong.

Sorry Miyagi, I saw Bitsa's reply and thought it was to yours, not mine about front LSD, but yeh all mitsys, that I know of are IFS, unless you go all out with SAS conversion. Hey what would a front LSD do to steering when off road
Thanks
