Rears up front setups.
Okies, just to clear a few things up, im talking about standard pre 98 model solid axle rear leaves in the front, NOT ifs rears in the front. I already have X-OVER, so dont tell me i need it. And YES ive got longer shocks.
Just needing to know what length shackle you guys are running and how many leaves you got.
Ive got 150mm shackles, curteousy of choas, up front at the moment.
What im going to run is the top 2 leaves from the rear pack and the bottom 3 leaves out of my 1 and bit inch lifted and somewhat sagged springs that are in there at the moment. I will most likely either put shock hoops in or just raise the standard mount to keep it looking somewhat factory.
So what setup are you guys running and how good is it? Not so much a tech question but just getting an idea on what other dudes are running in their setups to compare to mine. The aim for me is to put the diff forward to run 35's. And no im not going to drill new holes in the springs, its an option ive already canned.

What about dropped hagers? If you dont do this your pioin angle will be nasty, but can be over come by the use of a track bar but yer i would go dropped hangers.
and spring clamps are a must have on the rear of the pack to stop it from unloading full and rotating the diff but you don't need to run them on the front of the pack

Yeh, I intend to run the pack closed up too. The 3rd spring in the pack has bolt-up clamps, so its a doozy.

I did exactly this to run 35's and they clear no worries at all. I have the two main rears with 3 front load leaves with 160mm shackles and dropped hangars. works awesome for me, altho im just waiting on my hi-steer kit to sort out the steering part of it. putting these in your front should push the diff forwards 2".
When you dropped your front hangers did you push it forward, as I'm running mine 2" forward 75mm down with the standard rears with main load leaf pulled out, and standard shackle, gives good pinion angle, front tyres sitting way forward.

Mainly clearance, I did mine 75mm cause I wanted to correct the bad castor on my front driveshaft, hence the standard shackles, also if not moved forward you'll prob need banana shackles to run the standard rears, otherwise your shackle will rest on the chassis, unless you make a new shckle mount inder the chassis and run standard shackles.Drop Bear wrote:can someone explain why exactly you need to drop the hangers?
