I'm running 30 spliners and have been since Tuff Truck. I've given them a pounding. I'm trying to limit the load that I put on them though. There is still stuff I won't do - nothing is indestructable. However, stuff that previously would break a hardened CV, I attempt with ease of mind. I just try to stay within a safe threshold.

27 spliners just break the inner axle - even chromo ones!

Have any of you guys pulled them out yet and inspected them? Like pulled them apart, cleaned and had a look at them? I know BeeBee told me his click occasionally. Usually Clicking comes from dented Stars and Bells. But it is unusual for the Clicking to come and go.

I just cant beleive that there have only been a couple of failures in these so far.

Only thing i can think is that all the guys that were realy getting it with Toy Axles over the last few years had allready given up and gone to D60s. I dont know of any comp rigs in the US running these(Other than F-Toys) where as when the original ringed Longs came out there were still a few rigs running with Toy axles.

I just dont beleive that you guys are getting it hard enough to hurt them :finger:

Sorry cant supply Axles. Can supply a limited number of GQ inner axles(stock untreated). Only because most of the time we cant buy the CV without the axle.

I haven't pulled mine apart yet as I don't have any spare circlips (these may be a std toyota item but not sure). Other problem is having to bash them in order to break the circlip doesn't sound like a good idea just to have a look. However, on the 2 occasions I've had my front end apart since they were installed, I've noticed that the CVs were unusually tight for a used CV. You expect a new unused CV to be really tight but the longs are amost too tight to move by hand. Maybe that's a good thing maybe it's not but I know it's certainly a different case to the 1st generation longs that rattled like miraccas when new!!

Yes, he uses standard Toyota circlips. Mine came unattached and they had to be assembled together. They are tighter than a virgin, LOL. Maybe it is the design, but these Longs are much easier to insert with the circlip than the stocker. The stocker almost needs a second person to guide the circlip into the CV.

I assumed that the circlips were standard. I'm not used to them as I've always had my inner axles mar-tacked and never relied on the outer circlip. The CVs themselves are certainly tight - but that's the way I like it!!

Your product against my 30 spline Longfield Superset any time any place Ruff.

"I dont know of any comp rigs in the US running these ... just dont beleive that you guys are getting it hard enough to hurt them " ... open the other eye and have a wee gander @ Pirate4x4.com

Good on ya for endorsing your belief and pride in your own product, but a little more honest perspective and a little less scaremongering is called for don't you think !

Did you notice the smilie at the end of my post? I was being Sarcastic

So have you pulled yours out? Im not disputing they are strong. BeeBee has broken his fair share of CVs including our old style and he drives hard enough to know these are strong. All i have asked is if anyone has pulled a set of these out and inspected them? As i know BeeBee's have made noise and there is only one thing that usually makes a CV Click. And thats deformation in the star or Bell.

And trust me i have spent my fair share of time on Pirate and i can guarentee i have read every thread on that site that has anything to do with Longfields. Its a term i search everytime i look at that site.

As for being Dis-Honest i have no idea where you are getting that idea.

Sorry i also should not have said i dont know of Any Comp Rigs in the US running the 30Spline set but there are no rigs finishing in the TOP 10 in the highest classes of any of the current Rock Crawling series(CalRocs,W.E.Rock,UROC). They are all running Dana 60 gear or Hybrid 9"/D60 and even Tractor Axles but no Longs. Now if these Chromo Longs had been on the market a couple of year ago then you may have seen some of the Top Runners running them and had a real idea on how strong they are. But the top runners had no choice but to swap out Toy gear for Dana gear due to strength issues.

There is a 4 Wheel Steer Buggy being built at the moment in the US that will be running these front and rear. It will be interesting to see how they hold up. I know i wouldnt recomend anyone using our CVs in a rear steer application.

I also dont beleive Our Product is better then the 30Spline longs. At least it shouldnt be as ours are stock modified CVs. These longs are built with some of the best material available. Difference is our Hilux Cvs are $640 a pair delivered anywhere in Aus. For the 30 spline longs you are looking at $1200+(This is a generous Guestimation)a Pair landed in Aus.

But if your keen to put one against the other i will be happy to send you a set of ours and you send me a set of the 30 Splines and we will run them for 2 days only on our own choice of terrains and then pull them out and see which is damaged more. It could only be fair that you test ours and i test yours. Im still not saying that ours is stronger but seing as how BeeBee's are clicking i think i can damage these fairly easy. BeeBee drives like a Girl :finger:

By all rights ours should break first. Its still just a stock CV that has been treated. Its not made from 4340 Chromoly and 300M like the Longfield is.
