Post by mgundle »

hey all i was just wondering i can get hold of a pretty clean 75 series with all the usual gear( wheels,bars,a/c) any way the engine is a 2h and has popped a piston as i was told or done rings or something not entirely sure
what i was wanting to know is it possible to put a 1hz in front of all the 2h gear box will they bolt up?
or does some one have any other suggestions

I do happen to know someone with one of these engines rebuilt 8,000kms ago for $400. Maybe that will be easier ;)

well now that the language has been deciphered maybe we could get around tro finaly answering this giuys question which i see no body has doen so far sorry but i dunno if it will fit or not i have actually heard of it being done but i think some modifications have to be done to the bell housing and possibly the engine mounts as well as overall it sems to be a realatively simple job i think you can go ahead and do it thanks

Seriously, can anybody assist this guy?

I just fitted a 1HDT into my HJ75. The 1HZ is very similar to the 1HDT as we all know. I used the gearbox from a MWB HZJ73 so it worked well, but there is a bloke here who has fitted a 1HDT into his HJ60 without changing his gearbox. His name is Damian but I forgot his OL Forum name. It involved inserting the pilot bushing only partially into the crankshaft and (possibly, I can't recall for sure) machining a 1HZ bellhousing a few mm as the 2H gearbox input shaft is shorter than the 1HZ input.

You'll need a new radiator, hydraulic steering and clutch lines, fuel filter and primer assembly, a fuel tank return line etc. A 1HZ tacho is also needed. And a few more details I forgot.

you need the HZJ75 bellhousing, it is the only bellhousing to allow a 1HZ to bolt to a H55F transmission. you need to use the pressure plate off the 1HZ (with the 1HZ flywheel) and the 2H friction plate (driven plate). (both use an 11" clutch) you need to hang the spigot bearing half out of the crankshaft so the input shaft spigot will engage. it may work out cheaper and easier if you can get an engine and gearbox package.

Damian's Outerlimits username is 'quick 60', shoot him a private message or search for his messages, I'm sure he has outlined this swap before.

cheers

I have personally helped on this conversion. The following thread highlights the MAJOR differences between the models. There are alot of little things as well.

PM me or Bluey74 if you want any further information.
