OVERLANDER 4x4 Magazine NAVNITE AVOCA- WE ARE BACK(20TH Aug)

Post by NavRun »

When: ( August Sat. 20th August )
Where: near Avoca; 90 minutes from the west gate bridge
What is a Navnite? Put simply, Navnite is a series of 5-8 stages. They are on existing tracks in which some stages may require you to winch. There is no navigating. Each competitor receives a Vicmap of the area with the stage locations and details marked on it.
Requirements: The standard is hard to extreme, attracting the most capable vehicles with experienced teams. Winches and aggressive tyres are essential on all vehicles, while diff locks and enhanced suspension offer a distinct advantage, although not compulsory. 33" tyres or greater are also required.
The event begins at about 7 pm and concludes before daybreak. Overnight camping is permitted in the area. There are no waiting convoys, you choose the stage in any order.
Teams consist of 1 vehicle only. You may bring extra passengers if you wish; no extra charge. The full cost of the event is a mere $157.

Spectators: Spectators are very welcome. For the small fee of $15.00 per vehicle; included you will get a detailed Vicmap with all the stages and details of the event. Spectators please RSVP by emailing to navrun@navrun.com.au with your name and email address and I will forward you the meeting time details.

For entry forms of the event please go to our website: www.navrun.com.au or telephone 03 9789 6985

No cages for this one. All that is compulsory is a winch. We recommend 33" or greater tyre size, however some believe there 31" will get them there.
A maybe in the dry, but judging by the current conditions she is going to be a little slippery. But who knows what August has installed for us.

Good job there's no charge for extra passengers as it's not a catered event... LOL

How hard is this on vehicles. Is it just for the serious comp trucks or can you do it without diff locks?

The event is for serious off-road vehicles. Winches are compulsory, diffs locks are not but they would help. No other limits apply as long as the vehicle is registered.

Overlander magazine will be there for a photo shoot and write up in their map.

Cheers.

Late entries still coming in. Another 2 teams today.

Should have over 15 teams. A much better turn out than we expected.

Just what we wanted for next years Navnite Fixture. Will have some serious prizes installed for next year.

And its still raining out there.....................

Yeah we had the last vehicle go thru our stage SS6 at about 5:15am and unfortunately he came unstuck and floppped it on its side! Bit of excitement for the wee hours of the morning.

The two stages i was marshelling went pretty well with most compeditors saying they enjoyed there drives.

Well done to Rudes and Hobzee for putting on another great event and thanks to the other Marshals.

Well done to all teams also for putting on a good display with a bit of carnage here and there!

Hope to see more of these events!

Will post results very soon. I am going to provide a run down, stage by stage (6) noting best times - but need score sheets with me to do this - Rudes ESQ has the score sheets.

What I can say is that "That Green Thing" seems to be going faster. Just as well coz there are new kids on the block with speed... Matt from performance diesel is quicker, Mick in the GU ute (bronze) is too quick and although he can beat "That Green Thing", he hits things - great to watch!

3 new GU utes on scene - great to see.

100 series going for it - what a mess!

a new 75 series on the scene.

All up about 8 new rigs and boy have they spent some lolly!

We hope to see some of this new blood at Cliff Hanger..

Great Event, had a great time marshalling with Steve.

The flop at that hour on Stage 6 was a nasty one, a bit more and she would have gone to the bottom of the hill. The run up the hill wasn't to good though.

And i now have the week off work with a stuffed knee, and another appointment next monday.

Hope to compete in these in the near future, the winch will be on soon, and hopefully ill have better luck than the zuk that did his tailshaft early in the night.

Cheers
Richard

All times, scores and positions now up on the website. www.navrun.com.au

Congratulations to Team Tree Hittin' Action (Justin West & Andrew Cassar) on finishing first. 2nd Team Clipsal ( Andrew Taylor & Ben Carter ) and close third Team Gumnut ( Matt Bolton & Jay Andrews ). It was a close comp. for the Top 6.
Thanks for all those who attended and supported this event. We had a good turn out making this a go ahead for next year.
We will have 2 Navnites next year and hope to have prizes such as winches or a set of tyres for prizes, etc

Many thanks for the marshals braving the cold & rain, we appreciate your volunteering work., especially for the guys on Stage 6 staying up to the wee hours of the morning.

Will have photos and vid to download soon.

Cheers, Rudi
