Umm, me thinks its for use in Iceland etc, where they just need big-arsed balloon tyres to make their way through the snow......suspension travel not so important.

They have big tires so they can float on top of the snow. Allmost no air in them, just a few psi. They have an inboard compressor to inflate the tires.

They have not much suspension-lift, using bodylift instead and alot of cutting in the body.

The biggest 4wd modifying company in Iceland, Arctic Trucks built a few 80 series Landcruisers for an Antarctic expediton some years ago. they have 44" tires on 14" wheels. It has a 4" bodylift and 2,5" suspension lift.

This company is also based in Norway, not far from where I live. Have seen this expedition truck a couple of times, it is huge!!

From what I have seen in some aussie 4wd mags, there is one 80 series in OZ built by a guy from Iceland, with the same huge fenderflares to cover the tires on it, I think it has 46" tires.

What ever people think. I still want one.

Had a read of that site though and they do somethings that I think are wierd. Like on the LR Def that is running 38"s. They cut all the mounts off for the suspension and lowered them. I would have thought it would have been much easier to put a spring lift in and long bumpstops to stop to much uptravel and tyre scrubbing.

Sheeit you're right.

Unless he's one of those folks who has plumbed his air intake into his glove box or something...
