Where is the best place in sydney to get new front door hinges and how much would i expect to pay for them?

On ebay top hinge starts at about $40 and the bottom hinge starts at about $80, Ive been thinking of getting some for myself.

At the price of replacing the hinges, im going to pull them apart and see how hard it would be to machine up some new bushes and pins (i think it would be more that way)

my hinges on my MQ have been rebuilt and they are tops, very tight :D
low cost involved in it. have a look at mine next time ur over ;)

Who rebuilt them Screwy? What was involved? I'm tempted by the $80 for the pair (top and bottom for one side) aftermarket ones on eBay atm, but it's still a little steep...

Kingy built mine when we did the new paint job to stop the paint chipping on the bottom of the door when we opened and shut it.......

They had new centre pins lathed up for them i believe.

Before every-one floods my inbox........ :roll:

They are a simple unit to rebuild ..................... if you have access to a lathe that is !

the Brass bush needs to be machined to suit the hinge..... in some cases the hinges are that badly worn that just replacing the bush doesnt help.......... this is because the hinge pin wears through the bush and then cuts the actual hinge to bits thus making the bush hole much larger.


I usually fit a much larger hinge pin as a result and the hinges are super tight after they have been done. To date I havent had a complaint but .....






I'm totally out of sets of spare hinges..... I think there's one pair for the passengers side left at the moment but thats all.

having the hinges done by the machine shop is the cheapest way. i did that with all my hinges except for the front lower ones. i decided to buy brand new ones that cost around $40 US from the local nissan dealer here. the upper hinge is cheaper. FYI, hinges are the same as the GQ.
