10in rims or wheel spacers?

Just thinkin at the moment, on ways to get a bit more width in stance. Have seen 60s with 10in rims, and the tyres seem to sit a bit wider. I like the look of this and think it would be a lot more stable. Cant really get wider offset rims in 8in that what i currently have. But, im pretty sure 10in rims will be a pain when running lower pressure, ie. keep popping of the rim.

So, wheel spacers could be the way to go? Although i realise legal issues will arrive with this, im sure its illegal to have 10in rims also.

I dunno, just throwing around ideas and looking for comments i guess..

i run landcruiser rims in 8" which is the widest standard wheel,

but u can have em flipped makin them wider, reducing the backspace.

i'm just about to order some 15x10's from the states.

not to worried about rolling off the bead, cause they will be locked. :cool:

also u can run 10" wide rims on the road without getting pinged.

getting your rims done is about 80-100 bucks depends i think wheel spacers start at 120 each for one inch :?:

had rims flipped for about $45 each at ajax wheels in melbourne made my bundy look tough as, added around 6" to standard wheelbase :cool:

I like the idea of flipping rims , but does it put too much load on the wheel bearings and other components that may break a lot easier ??

It will but considering what we do with our rigs I think it really isn't too much of a concern. Will be doing this mod soon to avoid anymore on trail sleeps by my rig :oops:

go the 15x 10s i ran then on my old 4 runner with 6 inch lift looked tough as worked well to
ln106,2.8td,efs,wt,35s,& more......

upon speaking to an engineer a few weeks back, you can put wider diffs under no probs, (as long as brakes and all that shiat are sweet) but still means you cant go over the Max track increase of the NEW diffs,

there may be a possibility if you run a full floating rear diff, not to sure on this one.

having managed to get 5 new ROH TRAK 2 rims thru insurance and having them clothed in 35in mickeys i headed over to the engineer, ALL WAS GOOD EXCEPT FOR THE RIMS......... 35mm over track(thats on top of the 25mm track increase allowed overall). that means that the rims supplied by ROH to suit an 80's are illegal and do not comply with the adr's for that vehicle. im sure theres a heap of you who may be in this situation without knowing it. currently waiting to hear what ROH have to say for themselves........


PS: i agree, changing to a wider diff is the easiest legal way to increace track

I believe rims for an early toyota are a higher offset than the newer toyotas... Am i right. Newer Cruisers with coil springs have a wider stance anyways, Correct?
