GQ CV's and heavy-duty axles. WHO CAN SELL ITS?!?!?
GQ CV's and heavy-duty axles. WHO CAN SELL ITS?!?!?
As the head sais: I'm tired of broking cv's...In the last Transilvania Adventure Trophy I broke 2 in the same day. I don't enjoy much changing cv's in a 1 meter deep mud....
So, anyone knows for sure WHO make heavy duty cv's? I sent few e-mails to Ruff, but it looks like he can't sell the entire axle+cv.
Need help!!

GQ MWB 105 ", DID Mitsubishi engine with big turbo, fiber glass body, Boogger 38.5/11/16, 2x8274, 5 link front, triangulated 4-link rear, SAW 14" and 16" coil-overs, , 5.1 r&p.
its quite hard to break CV's that regulary, unless your running super size tyers or you just drive HARD. Why not upgrade your diffs to GU diffs. They have a 40mm axle(correct me if im wrong) and strongerr CV's. But, this is an expensive job because the diffs alone cost $2000 were as you can pick up a hub to hub GQ diff assembly for $950. Then you need more frabacation to put them on your GQ. Is it really worth it. If you try really really hard you could get a set of volvo drop axles or unimogs for bit more dough and then you wont break a CV or axle again.

As has been said with the type if driving you are doing it might pay to upgrade to a GU front axle (99 owards patrol - current shape). These have a stronger CV and seem to be able to take alot of punnishment.
There is not much work envolved to make them fit, that you wouldnt be able to do yourself after reading some of your other work.
As you have a 5 link front susp this will need to be re done. and then there is just a custom steering link to match up with the GU one.
As for RUFFS GQ cv's, I am sure he can supply the axle also for abit more $$. But they are only std axles, they only do stronger CV's.

Thank you all, I pm both...
I didn't consider going GU front, as here its preatty fawking difficult to find GQ spares, don't mention the GU...;-((
But: I posted a new topic asking if the GU front diff can be installed in a GQ housing and if the GU cv's + axle are the same lenght as the GQ. Because if so, can be worked something out...
Thanks again, Gabi

Theres no point in putting a GU center into a GQ houseing as you can use any of the other GU stuff.Gabriel wrote:Thank you all, I pm both...

But you can put a GQ airlocker into a GU housing. There is a slight mod needed on the locker so the axles go in all the way.
The GU cv's just want fit.

the GU centre is exactly the sam as the GQ one, apart from some minor machining differences. it isn't any stronger. gu axles are 31 spline where they go into the CV instead of 27 spline like the GQ. other than that they are the same.
if you can find a cheap, bent GU housing you can cut the trunions out of it and weld them into your GQ housing. then you can run the GU stuff. the stamped part of the GQ/GU housings are the same object.

Thanks guys...but transporting an entire axle from Aussy up to here will cost me loke an entire car...;-(
About the dana 60: I can buy one for about 1000 euros...but had you seen the diff housing?!?! Its f....k huge!!! And weights a lot! So, under the diff I'll have a very poor ground clearence...
I'll test the Ruff's cv's asap....
