I've searched and read all the 5 million posts regarding lifting mav's and what lift is needed to run 35's etc etc but I cant find much on running 35's with a standard TD42 and standard ratios.
Anyone actually doing this at the moment or used a GQ on 35's as a daily runner without a turbo or ratio change?
Is it undriveable?
I run 31's at the moment and never use first gear at all on the road. Surely its just a case of always being in a lower gear than normal and accepting it wont accelerate as fast?
I dont wanna fork out for 35's if I'm gonna have to sell them again to go to 33's
and if anyone wants to post pics of GQ's on 35's to help persuade me that would be good too
The hardest thing about owning a jeep is telling your parents you're g a y!!
at the moment im running my GQ wagon onroad on 35's, standard diff gears and no turbo, it drives okay, it still pulls okay, im happy with it, as thats what i have and cant afford changes at the moment,
mind you, i do have my 4.6 ratios to suit stting waitin for install, soon i hope,
I have 35mtr's on my shorty GQ. I have a TD42 with out turbo and std ratios. It does the job but could do with some more power. But it will do 110km/h on the freeway (actually it does go faster). Just have to change down gears when I get to hills, its that or slow down abit.
At the moment though my gearbox is stuffed so I cant use 5th, so drive everywhere in 4th with no issues.
I got 35's with std ratios and no turbo, is pretty good really. Spare is a bit of a problem, I just let some air out of it and it sqashes against the door and I can't open the right out but, cos it squases the stop light/indicator. I think some people use a spacer.
I run 35's on my non turbo, standard ratio, daily driving safari shorty and it actually gets to a higher speed on the freeways more comfortably . Havent really noticed it in low range at all and have only lost about 30kms per tank of diesel. Go for it...it looks P-I-M-P
Only thing I wanna do is trim the rear guards to stop a little scrubbing
To be totally honest, you will hate the power loss and extra fuel consumption, I sure did....
I'm going to get the 4.6's first than the TURBINE....
I updated from a MQ 2.8 shorty with 33's and in comparison the 4.2 diesel was a V8 on road compared to it, but now with 35's and lift the GQ is no longer such a joy.....
