Wrapped in plastic..

Post by Wendle »

Like the girl from Twin Peaks. Except 3.74:1 T/Case gears for Carlton instead of a dead body..
Ummmm yeah, I'm only posting this to try and inject some life into this section... Come on post up, someone must be doing something to their trucks...
Cheezy, where are the hi-steer photos, or the mog-axle ideas??
Anyways, marks pack these things so well it took me about 1/2 an hour to unpack them and make sure everything was their.. The freight dude said not one of their packages has ever fuct up that he knows of.

It is cool, funny how they can get lower in the much smaller t/cases though. 4.8:1 for hilux and 6:1 for suzuki.
Not much grinding in this case though.. A little off the little oiler doodad and a little of the selector fork..

the "oiler doodad" sounds like it would be an precise thing, so be ultra careful, because upon reading the manual "the oiler doodad" appears to be a precision fit part, which is a certain size and weight for a reason :lol:

Yeah it has the measurement to take off in the destructions.. It is only about 1-2mm or something.. From the photos it looks like it is shaved back to allow the factory oil tolerance to stay the same?? I'll probably get someone to do it for me anyways, cause I am lazy and not very mechanically gifted. And some bloke in QLD with a yellow 40 series borrowed my bearing puller and got it stuck on his c0ck ;) :silly:

i was in on the group buy of these things..

BUT...

marks promised delivery the week before nissan trials so i could fit before competition.

3 things happened..

i had to go to florida for 3 days for work on the trials weekend

the trials were postponed

the tcase didnt turn up as promised so marks have lost my business, companies that screw me around lose my $$$

Was at Marks when yours were going out, was going to leave a little something in the box for you :D
You were lucky to get them, as there were more orders than they had, but things are ok now, as a new lot just arrived.
And BJ, I asked Mark and NO you cannot get what we were talking about the other day for free, and no he still hasnt got a price for it yet.

Hey Rob

Your running 2.3 at the moment yeah? Do you have the large or small idler shaft? My splitcase runs the large one (38mm I think) but the gears are slightly fcked.

Sorry dude - thinking out loud. Are your TC gears 2.3:1? I am thinking about options for replacing the gears in my splitcase when I rebuild it. The 3:1 Gearmasters would be nice but $$$. Might get some 2.3:1 secondhand if the price be right.

I am going to get busted for talking about this in the Nissan section soon. Hopefully no-one will notice. :wink:

Sorry dude here is my gearing:

Gearbox = 4.89:1 (manual, standard H41)
T-case = 1.98:1 (Manual, standard SC)
Diffs = 4.11:1 (Standard, teeth = 37CW&9P)

on 42s, that means a LOT of motor is needed to push them, and I have ALL the motor it needs, to break axles off, and get the wheel speed up.

they are nice and slow. Only rode the clutch once that weekend. :)

3.74 x 4.88 lags behind 3.74 x 4.1 about an extra car length every 3 or 4 at about 600rpm 8)
