who's got a weber on a sierra
so ya fixed the hesitation at full open secondaries? thats what im fighting with but i dont have extractors. Ya will have to let us know what fuel ecconomy is like.
hey phil what is the 34dms weber off? I have a 34adm here from a XE falcon if thats the same? yourz for $50 plus postage to where ever unless ya can pick it up on ya travels? Prob wont fit as the base plate is 25mm thick and is a full polution carb. Do something different and put a sidedraft on it

Yes now the secondary pulls strong no hesitation at all. Tho you can really feels the power come on and fast. The carb is ultra loud round the 6G mark! You cant talk over it . So what jet/setup you running atm?? Oh yea and the first tank i got about 390k's to 41L and this was driving and testing the whole time on and off the throttle so not too bad at the moment. Going to have a bit more of a play with it today.

Ok then seems like its a weber 34/34 of a falcon xe-xf im pretty sure. Yea that should run on the zook quite well. to mount it you will need an adapter plate that u can buy off autobarn, with slight mods. you need to get the correct jets for the carb as well. This is the hardest part, as u can see me and B4T have been experimenting with our carbs. pull the carb apart and find out what jets are in it. That would be the first step. But yea a bit of muckin around and it will work. It will give more power and if driven and tuned properly it will give better fuel ecomony.

the whole economy power thing is a load of crap =)
more power = more fuel = less economy... you really have to tune it / jet it how you want it to perform.
Mine (i dont know jet sizes) is tuned for max power output regardless of economy... i know it can be made more economical - but where would the fun be in that? =)

ok the reason webers can be tuned for both economy and power is because they are a progressive carb. meaning they can be tuned for economy with the primary side and when ya need more power you open the secondary. normal cruising should only need the primary to open even when cruising on the highway but when ya want to really get up and moving or overtake youd then flatten it and use the secondary side aswell.
now as for the 34adm weber off a ex/ef falcon this is not the ideal weber to use as it is alot harder to mount and is a full polution carby. it has a thicker base plate with more vac outlets. There is not as much info if any on tuning these on a sierra as they wernt used in the states. Even Sarge had not heard of them and he knows everything about webers over there.
I personally would get a 32/36 if you intend to do it ya self

they say on top witch i think are air 170 AND 180
and in the bowl they say 180 and 210
like i said i dont know much about this carb so i might be looking like an idiot.

Thanks to Jayson (builtforthrashing) im now running the f66 e tube on the primary and the 4.5 aux on the secondary. The e tube made a great difference just of idle, tho it still has a lean spot just around 1200-1500rpm on very easy throttle, but its wayyy closer than the f50. It is getting closer to perfect, just gotta experiment with a few now different e tubes with a greater enrichment curve. Running this etube i've been able to downsize my primary jet from a 140 to a 135.

hey JrZook try it with a 130 main in the primary and a 140 in the secondary and put the 170 air in the primary and 160 in the sec. mine is sweet in the primary but dies at full noise. even tho we have the same engines our setups will be completely different as our intakes and exhaust systems are different. This makes a huge difference when trying to tune. You should be able to run bigger main jets as you can get more air in and out. keep playin and let us know the results

Tried running the 130-170 pri setup and 140-160 secondary but engine wont pull it its way to lean on the pri. The closet i can run is the 135 on the pri and 135 sec with 170/160 airs but thats right on the edge of lean.

one thing i found on mine the other day was i had a vac leak on the primary throttle shaft. that fixed it almost alone solved the hesitation but with the F66 e-tubei now dont have any at all but i run out of puff at full noise. dont think it gets enough fuel. my total fuel volume is only 257. (total of prim and sec main jets) might have to try a richer setup .

there are minor differences in the models. Mine is a pre polution model.

Ill sus it out for ya. Yea it seems a bit weird tho how i cant get rid of that hesitation just above idle. Ive fixed that primary throttle shaft for vacume leaks and checked everything again and again for leaks, tho it doesnt sound like a vac leak. Beats me will have to maybe try and find a f6 tube 4 it.
the hesitation you're talking about... does it happen if you slowly apply the accel?
mine has this hesitation also - but only if i plant my foot/put it down heavy - seems to flood a little.. more pronounced on cold mornings when its choked, or still cold. i find a quick tap of the pedal before dropping the clutch remedies this.
may just be a side effect of the larger carby?

The worst thing about censorship is ███████.
This hesitation is slightly above idle, when you ease the throttle on. Its in the transition stage from the idle jets to the mains which occurs round 1200-1400 rpm it runs lean as it isnt getting enough fuel. You cant tune it for the best lean setting on idle as it will stall out as the hesitation gets worse, so atm idle is on the rich side to get ova it.
Can't it just be a bit of slack in the accelerator pump ? I had this problem with another model Weber once and it was a real easy fix. No probs since then, although it wasn't on a Sierra.

been playing about again. got some more jets from the wreckers and have started the fine tuning. it runs heaps better and will pull right up to redline. the settings are now
primary- f66 e-tube, 3.5 aux venturi, 60 idle jet, 132 main jet and 170 air corrector
secondary- f50 e-tube, 4.5 aux venturi, 55 idle jet, 127 main jet and 175ish air corrector.
couldnt find a bigger air corector for the secondary side so i just filed the hole bigger with a small drill bit. it used to fall flat with a 160 air as it was too rich in the upper revs. with a 170 it was very fumey just after hard accelerating and now with the 175ish it is still a bit smelly but not as bad. I also put a 4.5 aux venturi in the secondary side and it helped to rev quicker (still went ok with the 3.5 so dont worry if ya dont have a 4.5)
havent had time to go for a decent drive yet to check economy but hey its not my DD so that a big issur for me.

Ahoy all, yea i've still been mucking around with mine, tho the more play the better it goes.
I run so far,
Primary: 140main, 160air, 70idle, 3.5aux and f6 etube
Secondary: 135main, 170air, 65idle, 4.5aux and f50 etube
Changing the primary etube to a f6 has greatly improved the low end response tho i still have a slight stumble just off idle, so im thinking i might get the carb rebushed since that might be a problem.
With these settings i was able to pull a true 11k's to the litre on a 400k trip so i was happy, was running at 100-110 the whole way.

now youv'e got me thinking . what weber are you using to use the ADM idle jets? whats the product code on the side of the carby or have you had it modified to accept these jets?post a pic of the top of ya carby so i can see what it is.

it prob has been done by someone. you would have to see if an adaptor plate was available or make one up ya self. hey Luigi why dont ya have a go at it and let us know if it improves performance and most improtantly power.
