Well, I bit the bullet this evening and started messing with the front suspension.
I raised the front 40mm which looks schweet and gives a noticable improvement in clearance under the front. Unfortunately this also took me to max adjustment so I will have to reindex the torsion bars.
The suspension now does not compress completely to the bump stops and droop is very ornary as is to be expected. Of course I had to have a play in the mud this arvo to check it out
From what I understand the sway bar only allows one wheel to go down as much as the other side goes up. If I shave down the bump stops to improve droop will this give me an improvement in overall articulation?

No. The sway bar resists wheels on one axle moving in opposite directions. Riding over a speed bump in the carpark both wheels rise and fall together, and the swaybar does nothing. If you try to ramp-test your fourby on the bonnet of a Nissan Sylvia the sway bar starts to have an effect. As one wheel starts to lift the sway bar is being twisted. It resists this twist, effectively trying to lift the other wheel too. The nett effect is cause the body to lean further than it otherwise might, because it's trying to keep the body level with respect to the wheels (remember that this is what they're primarily designed to do - to resist body lean during cornering.)

Hi NJ, How far up the bonnet of a Nissan Sylvia should I be able to get ? I have a LWB with only a 30mm lift at the front. And should I stop at the wipers?

Thanks for the great explanation. makes it clearer. The scenario that I had in mind was one side of the front end compressed and one extended so it is as I thought. I work in IT and there are the obligatory RS subarus and sylvias in the car park outside. I'll have a go at testing your theory when the other blokes aren't looking

I recon if the front glass dont smash you should be able to get all the way over if it does smash you'll probibly need front lockers just make sure you dont tip on your side

He he - funny you should talk about doing a ramp test up a sedan..., my wife did just that , she reversed up the bonnet of a new falcon by accident - wan't looking in the mirrors and the car was below the level of the rear window

keep a close eye on your cv boots !!
one of mine split within one month of lifting front end.
get yourself some manual hubs off a triton and then your driveshafts wont be turning all the time, and putting strain on your cv's and boots.
