All 1st gen 79-83 petrols had 4.88, some (or all) 84-88ish petrols also had 4.88. I dont know what 1st gen diesels had but all 2nd nd 3rd gen had 4.55 or 4.3 (4.55 in non turbo 2.4) Hope that helps.
