just checked out this man made course. looks awesome
this is what we need in Sydney !!!
The first state of the art man made rock crawling facility with 30 acres of competition area set in the middle of an industrial park 12 minutes from downtown Columbus, Ohio.
Plans call for 15 man made obstacles from mild to wild. Large Sections of concrete tube have been hauled in to make the base of the obstacles. From there we are adding dirt and sprayed concrete to contour the shape and texture. The obstacles will look closer to natural compared to other man made sites by adding large boulders in the mix. Some of the boulders being moved into the site weigh 20 tons a piece. The plans call for 250-300 sections of concrete tube ranging from 54" wide to 12' wide, 3000 tons of boulders, 3000 - 5000 cubic yards of dirt and lots of sprayed concrete or "Gunite".
Construction is currently under way and weather permitting we are looking at being ready by Mid May, 2005!
Stay tuned for updated pictures and info!

Just out of curiousity, what is their budget for the track in yank dollars?
the info is up there ↑, not here.
it says on their website that there is an event mid august.
it looks gnarlier than the super crawl track

Im here for the sausage!
I would think land values would make that unworkable in sydney.
but that said, surely theres some dodgy industrial wasteland that can be used??
or add that to all the other places on the putty road?
interesting they have 30 acres, yeah they only show 1-2 acres or is that because they were early shots ya think??
looks cool though, im wondering how you go with right of way between users?

As an organiser Rich, what are your thoughts on the man made versus natural courses. I'd imagine that on a logistics side it would be easier, what about in terms of garnering sponsorship and competitors. What have the competitors thought about using the man made courses like in Supercrawl?
