Ok guys is it worth me doing the install myself ( limited mechanical knowledge ) or to get someone to do it?
if the Latter does anyone recommend anyone in melbourne as i have rang a few diff places and been quoted anywhere between 300 and 990 ( i laughed and that guy )

Greg at Escape Offroad in Blackburn did my ARB's.. hes Ex- ARB dude, and also competes OBC etc.. knows his gear...

if you can pull a centre you can install a lokka. the onlt tricky part is putting the small springs in. just work in a tidy environment so if they pop away you can track them down. set the backlash to where it is now, feel it before you remove it and make it the same (tighter if you know what you are doing or if it need it badly.

read the instructions carefully - the gap between the inner clutches is critical to good operation. chances are it will be ok with your existing side gear shhimb but you may need thicker or thinner shims.
If you remove the diff and take it to a shop it should cost no more than $150 (absolute maximum) to have a lokka installed, it is very simple compared to any other type of diff lock. there is no need to remove the hemisphere or muck around with backlash or anything, just drop out the cross shaft(s), side and spider gears out, lokka bits in, cross shaft(s) back in, springs and pins in, and you're away.

I pulled a lockright outta a 3rd member, so know how to put it back in, seems easy as pie!!! but i'm to scared to start pulling my axles out and accidently fidling with bits I shouldn't. Looks like it would be a relatively easy job if you know what your doin From what I understand you need to pull off the hubs, take off the calipers, slide out the axles, pull out the entire centre once you've taken the front drive shaft off, and then it gets a lil technical with not touching adjusters and stuff
