GQ dash lights no worky

Hi,
I want to check why my ashtray light and backlighting for heater controls and hazard button is not working in my GQ. Can I just remove the screws from the centre dash panel (two on either side, maybe others) to get at it or do I have to pull the whole dash off?

I'll have to pull the whole dash off eventually to get at that annoying speed alarm, but I'm putting that moment off!

The center panel comes off easily so you can check globes etc... Checked fuses?

Yeah, its easy enough. From memory there are the 2 screws either side of the panel, and 2 on each of the heater vents at the top inside.

cool thx.......dont think its fuses, but i didnt pull em all out.....they're labeled in Japanese! But if they are the same as in the workshop manual there isn't a separate fuse for these things.

those lights are on the same fuse that is responsible for your tailights. I have a short somewhere which takes all of thses lights out. I would be checking your fuses well before you start pulling your dashboard apart

Some one asked this on another forum and the problem was the dimmer switch had been turned down when cleaning inside the vehicle.
It maybe too obvious.... but check it anyway

The fuse grimbo is talking about is the top fuse in the column of fuses closest to the door in ours mabs. How do I know this??? Its how I turn my parkers and tail lights on and off. the headlight turny ony bit is broked for the parkers so to turn them off I have to pull the fuse

My dash lights stopped...well half my dash lights stopped working so all Im gonna do is get some 24v led's and hook them up to the parkers and mount then along the top of the glass /plastic in the dash

mmm thanks guys........my tail lights work fine, so i guess it's not the fuse.

i'll check the dimmer switch and fuses anyhow before i pull the dash off.

Theres also one behind the ashtray.
To make things easierto remove. Wack gearbox in reverse and transfer lever into low. Just gives abit more room to pull the panel out at the right angle to unplug the wires.

btw.......it's not the dimmer switch! i was looking to check if there was another one after what somebody said.......but theres only the dimmer for the instrument cluster.

So it's not fuse or dimmer switch, so I'm not mad.......

pulled the centre console off just like you guys said.....easy.........bulbs were blown.

All is good now, thanx.

Instrument cluster is next to get at that bloody speed alarm......hehe
