TRAIL READY BEADLOCKS or SECOND AIR
Have any of you guys got any price ideas on getting 5 trailready bealocked rims over here "Australia". They are one of the meanest but cool looking rim around with the fat band for the beadlock. What do you reckon, should i get a set of Eastern wheel works rim and a set of Second airs on import a set f trail ready's. I am going towards the trailready as the keep the weight down, but you can also put Second airs (staun beadlocks) on an alloy rim now as they now have a longer stem. Also with the second air they beadlock both sides. And it would work out cheaper. i am really confused wat to get

If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
Go the steelies. For the extra weight you get the ability to belt them back into shape if you come a croppa on a rock.
Alloys cannot be sucessfully repaired, you can bond or glue them but you never end up with the integrity gained by the original crystaline structure of the alloy. They will always fail again adjacent to the original damage.

I've used both and reckon the mechanical beadlocks also offer outer rim protection which the secondairs don't do, so they get my vote.
As with all 4WD things and the punishment we give them, maintenance is the key to happy, trouble free 4Wheeling. The mechanical beadlocks don't allow mud to enter the bead, where the secondairs do (especially if not regularily cleaned), the mechanical beadlocks are more track freindly when the inevidable does happen and tyre repairs are required (even with all the bolts) and i don't believe popping an inner bead is a regular happening. Oh and on the legality side, I don't believe the tyres will be truely legal, so who cares about the wheeels.
