got a leakin seal on 80 series transfer where the front shaft comes out, wat i need to know is can it be changed with the transfer in place or does the whole tcase need to come out???
anyone whos done this help appreceiated, cheers

the front output shaft is one piece with the flange so it is more difficult than with other transfers. on a part timer I think it's possible to remove the front extension housing and replace the seal on the bench, not sure on the full timer. obviously it is necessary to drain the oil first. it may be easier to drop the transfer and do the job on he bench - with a suitable bracket to bolt the transfer to a jack, it only takes an hour and a bit to drop the transfer out of an 80 - depends how hard it is to get at the front extension housing bolts and whether that method works for a full timer.80diesel4play wrote:Can be don ewithout splitting teh transfer.
