Sticking Valvetrain

Post by BIg StEvE »

Any body ever had an old shitty engine that had the occasional valve stick on them? I have one at the moment and a cant free it up. Dont plan on keeping the engine but wanna get it registed. I got my roadworthy last week and the night before my rego appointment a valve stuck. :bad-words:

Anyone got any Trade secrets for freeing up sticking valves?

cheers

If its a sticky valve which i doubt you probably have it would be a prick to free it up cause its stuck for a reason , maybe bent.

Maybe your your talking about a noisy lifter ?
If so it should pump up when the oil gets a bit warmer then its thinner and the noise should go away , otherwise check your oil pressuer and make sure its ok ??

Also when was your last oil change ?? Maybe you need to change your oil .

holden sells a product called top end cleaner and we have used it on some barina's that have slightly sticking valves due to carbon build up and that seems to work but don't know how it would go for you. can always try running a good oil flush thru it a couple of times to see if it frees it up that way otherwise pull it down.

My old suzi was running like sh!t backfiring and stuff and mech told me it was probably a sticky valve, anyway i went wheeling the weekend after and revved the crap out of it on a hill climb. Then it was all good never backfired again.

After we pulled down the top end we found a busted lifter, who would have thought. All replaced and now its running ok, but down on power???
