Gday Oldhilux (or should that be Oldjackaroo? )

Cant help you much with the engine swap though I would think that the 2.2 diesel would be the way to go... or better still a 2.8td maybe?

I dont think you will fit 33s in there without a bodylift. I have a 2" suspension lift on mine and 32s that tend to rub a bit on the front. I will be doing the 2" bodylift before I think about 33s.

Cheers,

Noel

Ive got a 85 LWB. I think it would have the same motor as yours, its the 2.3L 4ZD1 type. Mine too is very thirsty. I reakon if you are going to upgrade engine wise you should look at the 2.6L or better still the 3.2 they put in the later model jacka's. i was looking at that when i rebuilt mine, but unfortunately i couldn't afford it. Are u runin LRP or Unleaded?? i run unleaded with a lube addiditive and it tends to get a few more miles out of the tank. Extractors helped and so did the stright through exhaust.
I run 31's with no lift (for the moment) but i know someone who had 33's and they needed 2" bodylift and had the leafs reset 2" higher as well. but with the small engine i reakon its best to stay clear of them.
What sort of 2" lift have u got????

cheers,
Greazy

Anyone have any idea roughly how much the 2.2 upgrade would cost. I'm using like $110 a week in fuel with 31's on. I might go down the route of a set of extractors though. I'm also fitting an HEI module, will see if this helps at all.

I imagine the 31s will be adversely affecting your fuel economy. When I have mine on my 2.6L Rodeo my fuel economy drops a bit.
