yet another tyre size question

I know this must be getting boring, but do you guys reckon it would be reasonable to run cheap 33 as a second tyre, eg mongrel or silverstone withought breaking the diffs in my 81 rangie. Obvously i couldn't go full out, but would it be breaking so often it would take to fun out of 4 wheelin

I really depends on how you drive it. If you drive it like a skirt, you'll be ok. If you drive it like its on 33's then you will break it. 33's doesn't mean though that it'll just break, but as soon as you start to spin/grip you really are pushing your luck with those tyres. I've seen Rangies break on a lot less.

youll be right, 38'' for 12 months of hard work only saw me snap one stub axle, meanwhile mates shorty 40 has broken 3 cvs on 32'' going on the same trips, its just one of those things that happen. if your not locked 33 shouldnt be to much dramer.

At that size it should be all about how you drive it and knowing when to winch. I ran 32's with rear locker on standard axles and never broke it. Moved up to 34's, bigger engine, maxidrive axles etc etc and could hear them going twang in the drive way...

hmmm 34s and maxi's and there breaking, maybe i should keep my lucky axles, oww and believe me the truck didnt sit at home on the tyres for 12 months, it was sitting at the top of every hill at oakey and cruiser snatchin my mates 40 up, and when i did snap that stub was when i was reverse snatching a GQ at winch challenge at cruiser!!!!!!!

Well it may still take a month or so till i get the tyres, but i think i might just do it, it's a toss up B/w the mongrel and the silversones, (if they are both cheap)

personally i would chose the mongrels. ive been out with cars running them n they have performed excellently mainly cause of the large outer lugs (similar to the simex) that clean well in the mud, good choice for a cheap tyre

honestly theres always doubt in every question, but you will find it ok. 33' are a nice balance on the rangie, and 12.5 wide gives them a bolder and tougher look as well as performance

if you intend on doin any form of rock DONT get the Silverstone Extremes.

Look into the Maxxis Buckshot mudders, they cheap and so far my little play set have worked a treat, just be careful as the sidewalls on most 33" radials are fairly weak.

Swampers are pretty cheap at the moment.

Why not look at 34 x 9.5 x 16?
They work pretty well in Vic, they cut through everything.

how much are the swampers approx, but a 34 in the swampers, and i will really start breaking diffs and axles?
